Great game by Anthony. He doesn't always score big. Last game he had only 3 points, but he is a good defender and rebounder.
Klein Forest's (29-8 ) win over Westfield (finishes 25-11) advances them to the Region II-5A tournament, which begins Friday at the Ferrell Center in Waco. The Region II-5A is the toughest region in the state of Texas.

        Let's see.....

You said Sam Maniscalco had 35 points last night, and Dwight Buycks had 24,
        and Anthony Thompson had 17.
BU's other incoming freshman Will Egolf also scores 16-18 every outing.
We all know that Matt Salley will boost his scoring average to 10-12ppg, and Daniel Ruffin will undoubtedly become even a better scorer and probably challenge for the league scoring lead. Of course Andrew Warren scores well considering how limited his PT was.
Add to that we know DeAaron Williams can average 16-18, and anyone who knows Jeremy Fears also knows he can score.
If we even get a little contribution from Sam singh and the others, then it looks like BU is going to be hitting 100 ppg most nights!

You left JC out of the mix of players, so.....how hard can it be to hit 100 ppg?

IF it was only that easy....remember LAST year we were "worried" about where our points were going to come from. Next year we might "worry" about only having one ball.

Well, I agree...the freshmen probably won't be putting up 35 points, and we can still only have 5 on the floor at one time.
Yea...O&B, I am having a really bad day as I didn't even count the 30-40 points per game Jeremy Crouch is gonna score.

Just to be silly I checked out these records....

Single game scoring record in Division I:
186 points (Loyola Marymount in a 186-140 win over US International 1/5/91)
(Can you imagine scoring 140 and losing by 46 points!!)

Highest scoring per game in a season, D-I:
              122.4ppg (Loyola Marymount, 1990)

              Most wins in a season:
              37 (Duke 37-3 in 1986, Duke 37-2 in 1999, UNLV 37-2 in 1987, and Illinois 37-2 in 2005)

              Consecutive victories 88 (UCLA 1971-1974)

Don't forget JJ scored about 30 points a game in high school. High scoring averages in high school doesn't always translate to high scoring averages in college, especially at the D1 level. Also, I don't know the style of play his team plays, or what level of talent he has around him, but at 6'10'' shouldn't Anthony Thompson be averaging 20 and 10. I gotta wonder about a 6'10'' guy not dominating high school level talent. Again, I don't know the style they play or if their is significant other talent on his team that takes some of Anthony's points or "touches" away from him.

I have talked to someone who has seen several of Klein Forest's games. And what he reports is that Alonzo Edwards (a 6'8" senior committed to Nebraska) does take an inordinate number of shots. He is somewhat of a ball hog, though he is a very good player. They do not run any play for Anthony, and they use him a lot as a perimeter defender, which he is extremely good at. He is extremely quick with very long arms and great reflexes. His forte will be defense at first when he arrives at Bradley, but his offense will develop because he is so long and athletic.

I saw them play when they were here for the TOC
and Klein Forest has a couple of pretty inefficient point guards that don't help the big guys, and Edwards just takes the ball himself way too often.

In the right setting Thompson would be scoring 30 ppg if they utilized him and got him the ball.
He is a good 6-10and with LONG arms would be a man among boys at the HS level, but most of his points come on plays he manufactures himself off missed shots and when he got the ball away from the basket.

Thanks for the info. I wish I could have seen him play in the TOC, but I was up in Chicago for the BU/Rutgers and BU/Illinois games. Does he handle the ball very well, or could you even tell from the games you have seen, and how about footwork.

I have also seen a number of KF games. The assesment that Alonzo Edwards hogs the ball is accurate (and he is not a great shooter but he is athletic). It is also true they don't run plays for Anthony-actually I am not sure they run plays. They do not impress me as a very well coached basketball team. It is also true that Anthony will move outside some on defense but he does sag in and does get a fair number of blocks. He is (and I have said it before) very coordinated and runs the floor well. In my opinion his major weakness is that he is very thin and not very strong-he will have to develop to be able to rebound in the valley-right now he would get shoved all over the place-I don't even want to think about him on the same floor with Falker. However, he is a high school Sr and most 6-10 kids are thin at that point so the strength and weight will probably come but they are not there yet.
