I think thats pretty much it, IMO we're deffinately a better team, but there homecourt advantage has been unusually good this year.

I can't wait for this game... I'm loving this season, as I get way up for every game. Always tough on the road, but I'm still pulling for BU to go 4-0 for the rest of the season.

Why does everyone think Evansville is such a threat? I dont feel they're that good of a team. Homecourt advantage....Ok they have that.

            Also, the purple aces?

How did they lose to Mo. St. by 52 points the first time they played but then beat them the second time?

Actually, I love the name. No idea what it's all about, but it's a great college team name I think... Definately unique.

The University of Evansville's nickname, the Aces, was acquired after an opposing coached cracked a joke after losing to the Evansville College Pioneers in the 1920s.

Dan Scism, the sportswriter credited with first using the name 'Aces' in headlines, said he did so at the suggestion of basketball coach John Harmon in 1926. "Prior to that the Aces had been called Pioneers," Scism said, "but Coach Harmon suggested I call them the Aces because he was told by Louisville's coach that he didn't have four aces up his sleeve, he had five!"

Forty years after Aces came into being, mascot 'Ace Purple' was created by Evansville Press artist Larry Hill. Ace Purple is a turn-of-the century riverboat gambler, appropriate since Evansville is located on the banks of the Ohio River. However, the first Ace Purple was a rough, mean-looking character who did not go over well with Aces' fans. Artist Keith Butz softened 'Ace' in 1977 into a smiling, friendly figure who remains popular with young and old alike. At about the same time, the official nickname for University of Evansville teams became 'Purple Aces' to include the longtime school color.

In 2000, the University adopted a new athletics logo that did away with the old Ace Purple logo (see picture). However, the University made sure that Ace Purple remained as a big part of home athletic events. To this day, a University of Evansville student is chosen during try-outs in August to don the Ace Purple mascot costume at all major home athletic events.

Out of all the games so far this season that many have labeled a must win I have for quite awhile labled this one as the real must win.

We are at a point in our program where we have to win this type of game. This is a game that doesnt make a statment outside of the Valley but within the Valley it really does. Meaning we can go on the road and win in 4 cities within the Valley. This gives this program the confidence as we move forward that it can and will win anywhere.

UNI did that for us last year. Winning at Evansville is a major statement. As much as I wanted to win at MoState, that was a very difficult assignment as is winning at WSU SIU or CU but Evansville is where we have to win. We have put away the other 3 play in type programs and it is time we did the same with Evansville.

Unfortuniately this program has faultered for years in games exactly like this. Tennessee Tech is the symbol of this type of year after year road loss. We have to break this type of road losing within our program. BU has to use this game as a program moving type of game. We lose this game its the usual string of games BU loses on the road, but we win it gives us 4 road wins and a chance to close out the MVC season with 4 straight... I really believe this is the truest of statements games we have played this season.

I agree with you Huston. This is a different team than the one that lost in Cooksville. I think that the Braves expect that they will win. I like that. JL seems to be very good at telling them what is at stake. He at least says it right in the media.

Whew brother, does anyone have a tic tac? Very odd officiated game in this one. Didn't really like the change of game plan at the half since the 3's were falling like crazy but still pulled out a close one. How much bigger does that VCU game look now? In sole possession of 4th place with some great help from Drake and technically 2 games behind sole possession of 3rd but only a game behind a tie with MO state with 2 Valley games left. VCU won again tonight also, so its 18-10 BU vs 22-5 VCU on Saturday night primetime baby.

I can't take these finishes. I was more nervous than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
