27-19 VCU at the half.
Hard to tell because neither team is shooting the ball very well. VCU palying zone and GM just standing around with zero offense.
VCU guards look pretty good to me. Plenty of movement in VCU offense against the M2M being played by GM. They run a lot of people off of screens. Guards do a pretty good job of finding the big men inside. Big men have finished very well so far anyway. VCU big men are pretty strong, but seem pretty slow getting back down the floor.
VCU pressing full court and GM not taking advantage of beating the press, just come down and let VCU set up in the zone. Then they just stand around and a couple of players pass the ball back and forth 30' from the basket, and then force a shot with 10 secs. or less on the shot clock."Let's make some noise".

VCU looks like a mirror image of BU. They move on offense and get good looks from the perimeter.
VCU plays 94' of defense. Bradley is going to have to capitalize when they beat the press. I get the feeling that Ruffin will have to have a great game beating the press and getting the ball to the right guy to score right away. Very few teams have pressed BU this year since they play three or four guards. It doesn't look like not pressing is an option for VCU (I hope that made sense).
VCU is struggling right now in the game because they don't have much of an inside game either. It's mostly jump shots like the Braves.
BA Walker is a big time player. JJ is going to have his hands full on defense.1996 & 2019

I agree that BA Walker can paly. I am impressed with the way VCU has constant movement on offense, set screens, pass the ball well. The guards like to head and shoulder fake and then drive.
It will be interesting to see how BU can attack the press.
It is difficult for me to judge the defense because GM does a lot of standing around on offense."Let's make some noise".

Thanks for your insight guys.
Regarding the press... does it help BU that ZA is very mobile (as opposed to someone like Singh)?
So with Ruff and Will breaking the press, can they find open shooters like (themselves and) JC and DA along with flashing ZA (and Salley who runs the floor pretty well too)?

Well VCU won by 15 points rather easily tonight. Only forced 7 TO's so thats a plus. VCU only has 4 losses this year with a combined total of 18 points margin. 3 games by 3 points or less and there last loss by 11 points. They could easily be 24-1. They play same style of ball as us but have the advantage of a much much easier strength of schedule. The home court advantage really isn't much to them as they've lost 2 of there games at home and other 2 games on the road. Either way, Bradley will be blown out if they put up another 13% 3 point percentage. VCU's offense is much better than Southerns. Defense will have to put up there best showing of the season if the shots aren't falling. That game will technically be our last "big" game of the regular season as Northern Iowa is falling off the charts fast. Have to make a statement showing here.

MM,
Not sure how VCU would react to BU breaking the press and attacking the basket, because GM did not really try to do this. It appeared to me that they just wanted to get the ball safely into the front court and then run the offense.
This game was difficult for me to see how BU would match up because GM is a completely different team than BU.
VCU did impress me with how they move and pass the ball on offense."Let's make some noise".
