  • If we make the NCAA tourney...

Then Ray Brown will be able to play for us. Talk about huge. I feel this would be big because he could definitely provide some much needed size, as well as being a tough matchup no matter what position he plays. Also, no teams this year would have any way to scout him, talk about coming out of nowhere.

Let's take care up business tonight, pull off the upset, and possibly get Ray back! I'm thinking this might mean he could play for us too if we happen to slip to the NIT.
People need to recognize there is a huge difference between playing hard, and playing well...

    How does that happen?

Are you sure he's only suspended for the regular season?

I would be surprised if that is true. I think his suspension includes any postseason play.

We are not making the NCAA Tournament unless we win the MVC Tournament. Let's take 1 step at a time.

BTW, I don't think that Ray could play. I'd be interested to see that loophole.

I think it's just one full calendar year. I heard from a very reliable source today that that was the case.

              I agree 100%

If this is the case, which I doubt, then wouldn't he be elidgable to play in the NIT also?

I think the NCAA is still realistic but we need to go on a winning streak to end conference play and get a couple in St Louis. The last ten matters to the NCAA so 4 conference games, 3 in St Louis if we get 2 wins and lose in the title game, 1 BB game makes 8. That means we are 1 and 1 for our last ten so far. If we get 7 of those 8(lose in valley title game). We are 8-2 in the last 10, 11-7 in conference, 23-11 overall. We need most of the 1-bid leauge champs to win their conference tourneys and not take up the at-large bids. Who knows who we get in St Louis. Could be a ranked SIU team on a neutral court in the semis. VCU could be in the polls in 2 weeks when we play. I am not ready to say Valley tourney title or nothing yet. Just like I was not willing to say 8 game losing streak when JC went down.

I would be suprised if RB is eligible this year.

Is Ray losing a year of eligibilty for his suspension? or is he just suspended for a year.

One full year of eligibility is gone and lost forever, and cannot be regained

Ray Brown lost the year of eligibility. He'll have 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Ray was able to play in the NCAA tournament last year (the samples are taken after the game). He won't be able to play in any postseason this year.

The only way BU is playing in the NCAA tournament is by winning on March 4th. Just my opinion.

Here is a site that tracks "bracketology" for the NIT.
Currently they have Bradley as a #2 seed.

as a #2 seed, they would be matched against one of the #7 seeded teams. Things wil change a lot in the next 4 weeks.

                          That NIT Bracketology is interesting...
I think projecting BU (16-10) as a #2 seed in the NIT with
St. Louis (15-9), Appalachian St. (18-6), Houston (2nd place in the Conf-USA), annd Iowa & Nebraska (both 14-8 ) all 7th and 8th seeds, will surely draw the ire of some people like Tom Penders, etc. who say the Valley doesn't deserve such lofty status.

New Mexico is 14-10 with wins over Kansas State and Wichita State, and they apparently don't even make the NIT even though three MWC teams (Air Force, BYU, and UNLV) make the NCAA.

Gotta remember who is on the selection and seeding committee:

Rudy Davalos, Don Devoe, Gene Keady, Reggie Minton, CM Newton, John J Powers, Dean Smith and Carrol Williams.

The NIT committee is a joke, considering the bracket they put together last year.
