    Nice job of reporting.
I enjoyed reading this article by Greg Stewart on BU/ISU and recruiting.

First-- he confirms what a lot of anti-BU people denied, that Bradley DID lose out on some recruits because they played deeper into the postseason last spring and guys like Dom Johnson decided to commit before their offers were snapped up by other recruits.

Second--I think he's blowing Jim Les' comments up too much. I don't think JL meant any disrespect, but Doug Collins jabbed at him when the halftime ceremony ran long.

Third--and I think most intertesting....is the rumor that ISU wants Matt Roth SO bad, that they are rumored to be trying to work a package deal to get Matt Roth, his teammate Sean Johnson, and even Washington head coach Kevin Brown at ISU.
Read the article, and see what they've done-- literally giving Washington head coach Kevin Brown several passes to seats right nehind the Redbird bench and sending the ISU players to Washington High School to work out with Roth.
Now there's the hint ISU might hire Brown as an assistant.!
I can see using this ploy like Kansas did to get Danny Manning or Mario Chalmers, or like Illinois did when they got all the Manual kids...but to use this trick to get a mid-major recruit, albeit a fine one?

Interesting...and thanks Greg Stewart for the nice piece.

They can have Dom Johnson, he might finish his career without a win agaist us. They can keep Boo too, the only one I would have wanted is OE. Les would be doing a better job devloping him and I think he has great potential. I agree about Roth, ISU can have him too if we can get NIck Freundt. As for Les's comment, only one coach was mentioned his Doug Collins speech and it wasnt Porter.
    Can we start winning soon?

Excellent job by Greg Stewart, it's about time somebody at that paper had the nads to write something like this.

I think Les could have been more appropriate and respectful in his comments, but he was in the rivalry in its heyday so I'm sure he hates all things ISU with every fabric of his being.

I honestly expected as much from him if he were asked about the court dedication. He could have taken the high road and didn't. No big deal.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

I am not sure why any ISU fan would care what Jim Les thinks of the Doug Collins love-fest yesterday.
When Bradley inducted Hersey Hawkins into their Hall of Fame, I don't recall anyone asking the opposing team's coach what he thought of the ceremony. Or caring either. But if they want to make a villain of Jim Les, so be it.

I listened to Jim's comments on his radio show, and he was nothing but overly complimentary toward ISU, Doug Collins, and Porter Moser.

His quotes (according to the Greg Stewart article linked above) that got a bunch of people in B-N upset were--

"We don't get too caught up in the hype of dedicating courts," Les said. "That has no bearing on us."

That's it! Nothing derogatory toward ISU or Doug Collins. Sounds pretty innocuous to me. If people in B-N got upset over that, then they really are reaching to find something to make an issue of.

What high road? What did he say that was insulting? Obviously Doug Collins wasn't too upset, or else he wouldn't have mentioned Jim in his speech. I don't find this any more insulting that Porter throwing a fit about the BU intros and taking his team back in the locker room 10 days ago.

I would agree, although the picture we see of Dom Johnson is in large part due to Porter Moser's coaching.
Recall when Dom first arrived at ISU, he was a ton. He was player of the week, and was their leading scorer in 3 of the first 4 games, and even went for 32 against BCS-Florida State.
The kid is good and has Will Franklin caliber talent, but it needs to be developed.
...and Dyer, Boo (3 times!! early in the season), and Slack have all won the awards, too! but each one is disappearing more and more. I have said why I think this is the case, and I think it starts at the top.

I agree with Da Coach. JL said nothing inflammatory, and what Doug Collins said was more of an attempt to show up his opponent than anything else we saw.
Jim is just using the rivalry to energize his players, and all the good reporting on our end has said that all week.

Agreed..the ONLY one I would want would be OE. The other two have been somewhat dissapoining IMO. Aren't both Juco's? Its a crap shoot but to get that little out of guys that will be only there for two years would worry me as an ISU fan.

Many Juco's take a year to adjust...so we'll see how these two do.

I'm not saying that for me because truthfully I couldn't care less what Coach Les' opinion of this situation is (No pun intended). It doesn't bother me. I was merely speculating a possible reason for those who were upset by it.

I don't think Les did or said anything wrong. His comments didn't offend me in the least. I was taking a guess at why some people may have been upset.

ISU fans should be like me and more concerned about winning than chicken-S*** grab-a** stuff like this that don't matter in the winning and losing of basketball games.

again, I should have clarified better. I, personally, had no problems with it, but others who were offended may have though he could have used different words.

I am just guessing at the reasoning of some people.

Thanks for the clarification. A few years back it seemed like a of BU folks cared more about the petty stuff than winning games too, so I know the feeling. ISU has all the tools to have a good program, however I am not sure if they have the right staff in place to get it done.

but here's how destiny sometimes works out better than planned.

Will Franklin was a last minuite recruit with the scholarship that unexpectedly appeared when Rembert and Stemler left.
Had we been dealing only with the scholarships of the guys who graduated, then we'd have never had one to offer Will, and who knows...maybe he'd have ended up at (God forbid) ISU!

Jim likewise got an unexpected scholarship when POB left, and we ended up with Salley-- probably better than taking Dom or Slack!

As I have said before...in his first four years, Jim Les has absolutely used magic or smarts to keep the fine recruits coming, despite the limited power a new coach from BU has on the recruiting trail.

I cite Daniel Ruffin, Patrick O'Bryant, Will Franklin, Tony Bennett, Lawrence Wright, Zach Andrews, Jeremy Crouch, JJ Tauai, Andrew Warren, Matt Salley, and even Danny Adams as nearly a dozen kids Jim has gotten to BU who turned out to be big time players and who I am very happy we have or have had.
Can anyone tell me if any of those players had even ONE other serious offer from a big school, or did JL simply go find the hidden gems and diamonds in the rough?
Now with better recruiting power, I think we'll do even better consistently.

I also believe this coaching staff is responsible for making these players better so the ones that choose to go elsewhere are losing out on a great opportunity as several of our players are now playing professionally and I believe Will is now good enough to play over seas next season which probably does not happen unless he comes to Bradley.

Some of it is luck and some has to be player devlopement. Les didnt really recruit JJ, AL B had more to do with POB, Salley was our 3rd choice and Franklin was our 2nd. DA being this good is amazing, no one would have thought he would contribute like this. Its a credit to Les and this system that maximizes our strengths and talents.

WHOA there Lakeview. I thougtht DA wouold be "this good." In fact, had he been playing 20 minutes a game the last 2 years, once his knee healed. He would have been "this good."
He is a shooter and shooters need to shoot. Playing 5-6 minutes a game, as he did, he could not establish himself. .
Nobody recruited Danny to BU. He recruited himself. He has always wanted to play for BU.
He did receive looks from E-Ville and Army, due to Jim Crews.
