    A couple big news stories........

Drake's head coach Dr. Tom Davis missed the very first game he has ever missed in his 32+ years and 942 games of head coaching.
last week when Drake went to Wichita State, Davis stayed home ill.

Blake Ahearn's drive to be the NCAA's FT shooting leader for four years may be in trouble.
With a couple misses recently he is now well behind Butler's AJ Graves (97 to 93%)

Since 1992, the MVC has had 38 teams finish the season with RPI's better than 75. Every one of those 38 teams has gone on to play in the postseason (NCAA and NIT).
Presently, the Valley has six teams (SIU, Creighton, Missouri State, Bradley, Wichita State and UNI) with RPI's under 75.
    (actually all are under 62)

Also here's a nice story of the emergence of several fine big men in the Valley.

    Well Written

Very well written and researched. What ever happened to POY Paul Miller? Did he go overseas, or is he in the D-League somewhere?

I never thought he should have been MVC POY. MVP maybe, but not POY. He was a disgrace to The Valley in the NCAA Tourney. My thought as an outsider would have been: Wow! He's the league MVP? Must be a pretty weak league." IMO the POY should be the most dynamic player, not necessarily the most consistent player who leads his team to a successful season

Once the MVC starting getting some recognition a few years back for its strong guard play, I think some of the more insightfull "big men" being recruited who were on the cusp between mid and major realized that they could benefit greatly from joining a squad that has great guards.

With the impressive guards BU has in the pipe, I would hope some "Kick A**" 6'10"+ guys would realize that they could have a field day in the MVC with those guys handling the rock.

Here is the RPI rankings by conference, and nbote that the MVC is still 5th, buit now the gap separating them from 6th and 7th place has shrunk to a very small difference. There are a number of reasons, but the fact that the lower teams keep beating the top teams appears to be hurting the MVC RPI. They need a strong BracketBuster weekend to pick the RPI up a little. But I believe the MVC will probably drop into 7th place behind the Big East and Big 12 eventually.

In the MVC, Bradley is #4 with an RPI of 49. It is looking more like there are 3 NCAA teams (SIU,CU,MSU), and 3 bubble teams (BU,UNI,WSU).

              News from Drake-
Drake is planning to take a preseason trip next fall to the Bahamas. Also, Brent Heemskerk, who has only appeared in 5 games this season, will seek a medical redshirt.

When is Bradley planning a Bahamas trip? That would be a nice one for the fans!
