  • MVC road wins

It has always been hard to win on the road in the Valley.
Bradley now has 3 MVC road wins this year. That may not sound like many, but for a team picked to finish 8th or 9th, I think it is a great accomplishment. There are still 2 road games left (at SIU and Evansville) and they could still pick up another 1 or 2.

I just scanned back through the results of the past 10+ years (see below), and 3 MVC road wins ties the most MVC road wins for any team in the last 10 years. BU also won 3 MVC road games in 05-06, 02-03, 00-01, and 98-99.
The 97-98 team and the 96-97 (NIT year) team each won 4 MVC road games.
So this team, despite it's low expectations by outside media and coaches, has already equaled the number of league road wins of any team in 10 years, and still has a chance to equal or exceed the number of league road wins of any team since the 95-96 NCAA team which won 7.

    Great Info. Go Braves!
'Tis far better to have failed at Bradley than to have graduated from Illinois State!

Ahhh... yet another example..... the Drive-by Media

      Go Bradley!!!

BU needs to minimize SIU's home-court advantage!

It is not easy to win games on the road in the Valley. Three wins is a great accomplishment for this team, though the two home losses is a bit of a dropoff this year.

If I'm not mistaken, while Bradley does not have that "meaty" Valley road win that could help their at-large chances, they do have a chance to accomplish something that the other contenders have not been able to do. Bradley has a chance to sweep the "play-in" teams on the road with a win at Evansville later this month. That in and of itself is something the selection committee should look at as a factor when choosing their tournament teams.

Of course a win at SIU really puts Bradley in great shape for an at-large bid. They should just go into that game with nothing to lose. While it is not likely they will win, if they go into the game with SIU relaxed, you just never know what may happen!

The caliber of play in the MVC is at an all time high for the past 4 decades.
Many of those years, the Valley wasn't even one of the top 10-12 conferences in the nation, but now we are top 5!
So to be doing this well in this year with a team nobody expected to do well, says a lot about who IS the Coach of the Year!
