  • Saturday Afternoon Scoreboard

So much for hoping to get a little help from the ISU's.

Illinois State goes down to Carbondale and takes a decent lead into the 2nd half, then blows it and gets outscored 48-31 in the 2nd half by SIU, to lose 73-62.

Indiana State likewise played tough in the 1st half before scoring only 22 in the 2nd half and faltering at Creighton 71-55.
The rookie scoring sensation on Indiana State, Marica Stinson
played 24 minutes and was scoreless.
Will one of those silly posters who just a week ago was going to give the Coach of the Year award to Royce Waltman be willing to speak to this now?

In some other games on interest:
Illinois just did their best to hurt BU's RPI by rolling over and playing dead at Purdue. Jamar Smith came as Mr. Hyde again today, and was 1-7, marcus arnold nearly matched his average, going scoreless, as Illinois tallied only 47 points, in their 65-47 loss in West Lafayette.
Illinois guards Smith, McBride, Frazier, Meacham went a combined 3-18 from 3-point range.
I still contend that Bruce Weber destroyed his entire season just to be sure he beat Bradley.

Marcus Sikes must be really happy as Cincinnati gets hammered again to go to 1-5 in the Big East, battling Rutgers for 16th/last place.

UConn gets outscored in the 2nd half by Providence 50-27, and loses 84-72.

Jim Molinari's bunch wins another as Minnesota beats Penn State 65-60. They are about to overtake Illinois in the Big Ten.

Southern Miss plays close but loses to Memphis 67-64.

Wisconsin-Milwaukee played on national TV today as UWM loses to Wisc.-Green Bay 73-67 in a battle of directional schools, with Ryan Thornton logging all of 3 minutes and hitting one 3-pointer.

Missouri bounces back from a slump to hand Bobby Knight a loss 71-58.

NIU seems to be battling for the state's worst team, as they lose another to Kent St. 68-49.

But in the true battle for the state's worst team, Eastern Illinois seems to be ready to make a statement.
With 20 seconds to go, EIU is ahead of Morehead State 62-60.
They have led the whole game, so if they blow this one, I will name them my pick for the worst team in Illinois.

But in the true battle for the state's worst team, Eastern Illinois...
T - Am now rooting for some seperation in the MVC. The ISU's winning today could hav thrown the MVC easily into a 1-bid league.

Illinois is really bad right now. They are a different team that we played (and so are we). I don't think they rolled over against Purdue - they had chances but they are just bad. BWeber looks desperate.

Agree - BWeber wanted to beat Bradley BAD. He took a risk with Smith and it seems pretty clear now it was a bad move to let him play. But what I think shows through is.... Smith was quoted as saying he 'was gonna play' even tho BWeber was unsure. This then reflects on BWeber's ability to manage the team .... I guess they (the players) are calling the shots down there and BWeber is losing/lost control. (and it shows up in FT%, breakdowns defensively, horrible decisions made offensively by players)

Sikes is a prime example of why I like seeing JLes get players to come to Bradley that are good players that want to play for Bradley - not just the best player available in the rankings.

As for the worst team in Illinois... look for a BracketBuster BarnBurner between NIU and EIU to settle the score.
