Dave Reynolds has a nice article about Bradley at Missouri State today. It revolves around J.J. Tauai and how he likes this trip because he can see friends and family, but Bradley has never won there in his 3 previous trips (the link to the article is not posted on the PJ Star website yet).
However, in the article datelined from Springfield, MO, he makes one glaring mistake--
The article describes that
"One of Tauai's top individual basketball games came here as a freshman when he scored 19 against the Bears, his career high for his first three seasons."
As soon as I read that line, I knew I remembered seeing Tauai score those 19 points in a win over then-Southwest Missouri State at home in Carver Arena. I am sure many others here rememer that game, too. Indeed, that season, 2003-2004 was the one where Bradley lost 9 of 10 games while Phillip Gilbert was out with an ankle injury. One of those games was Jan. 21, 2004 at SMS when Bradley lost 52-45. Tauai started in place of Gilbert, but played only 18 minutes and scored just 4 points.
Instead, it was in the last regular season game on March 1, 2004 at Carver Arena that J.J. Tauai came off the bench and scored 19 points and was 5 of 5 from 3-point territory (Gilbert started and scored 31 points).
