  • Duke - Clemson

Duke had the game sewn up with possesion and a 3 point lead with 5.0 seconds on the clock. But a careless turnover gave Clemson a steal and a 3-point shot and they made it to tie with 1.8 seconds left showing. But amazingly, the officials put 4.4 seconds back on the clock (meaning the steal, shot & 3-pointer by Clemson only took 0.6 seconds?). That was just enough for Duke to drive the length of the court for a layup as time expired to win 68-66. Another game stolen at Cameron.

I was just talking to a friend about that!

The announcers never said a word about them reviewing to add time and then show us what we/they thought would be added (like they ALWAYS do)... and all the sudden Duke is taking the ball out of bounds with 4.4 seconds - how does that happen?

This is so funny i was just talking to a buddy about this game. UNBELIEVABLE! I thought it was over when Duke was up 3 then McRoberts threw it away and Clemson hit that 3. I have no freakin idea how they gave them that much time. Also I don't even think that the kid from Duke got the shot off. I'm still upset about it! What a tough loss for Coach Purnell. This is just sickening!

Just another reason to HATE Duke, but I gotta give Coach K his props, the mans good, but, like I said, that doesn't stop me from hating Duke.

it was obvious that there should have been more time on the clock. you could see the clock running after the shot went through. the refs watched the replay and I thought they would at least put clock back to 4 secs.
replay showed Duke player got shot off in time also.
            Great pass by Scheyer.

I wasn't saying there shouldn't have been time put back on. I also agree Duke got the final shot off in time. But was the time allowed to get it off correct. I don't know. Usually, ESPN and the analysts talk about it and show it like 3-4 times and we (the viewers) also get to make a judgement.

I think it was kinda funny - really.

And all the Haters for Duke come out.

I am NOT a Hater for Duke.

I am just surprised how all the sudden without any dialogue from the 'mouthpieces' there is 4.4 secs.

              I could care less.

People wonder how I sleep at night over crap like this? I tell 'em it's none of their business, but on my back if they have to know.

I did think the announcers seemed clueless to what was going on.I think they showed the replay 3 times or so and they didn't say anything about the clock.

I couldn't believe McRoberts made that pass. Paulas had already moved while McRoberts was holding the ball...it was like he was waiting to make a bad pass....

yeah to do all that in 0.6 secs seems impossible!

Maybe.... McRoberts was on the payroll from Vegas to throw the game.... but then the officials took over and made sure there was enough time for the game winner.

(oh... and this one is for McBeam, Beamer, McFly, etc.. )

The steal was an inbounds pass thrown directly to Clemson and no dribble and shot. You can get a shot off in 0.6.
I think the person who was running the clock was in such a state of shock they forgot to turn clock off when it went through

Yeah you can get a shot OFF in 0.6 seconds, but for the ball to go through the air 23 feet and go through the basket takes a bit more time. Also, the Clemson player (also probably in a state of shock) took a second to gather himself before shooting the three.

You can see a replay at ESPN.com in their Videos section. they do a nice job of showing exactly how much time should have been on the clock

exactly, takes more than 0.6 secs for the ball to travel that distance!
