  • NCAA record

Last night (Wednesday 11/14), Robert Morris of the Northeast Conference annihilated the Mount Aloysius College Mounties (Division III) by 47 points, 104-57. But what was significant is that Robert Morris starter Josh Williams played 31 minutes, way more than any other player, and launched 26 shots, 25 of which were three pointers, and he made 15 of 25 to tie a 22 year old NCAA record of 15 made three pointers in a game.
Box score for the Robert Morris Colonials vs. Mount Aloysius Mounties NCAAM game from November 14, 2018 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

So tonight, just 1 day later, Furman beat another hapless opponent, the North Greenville University Crusaders (Division II) by 40 points, 107-67.
In this game, Furman starting guard Jordan Lyons was kept in the game for 33 minutes, way more than any other player, and he launched 35 shots, 34 of which were three pointers. He made 15 of 34 three pointers to again tie the record. Yeah for him!

What is funny is that according to the play-by-play of that Furman-North Greenville game tonight, Jordan Lyons and his coach were not satisfied with tying the record of 15 made three pointers. He remained in the game to the very end of the game, despite Furman leading by 40 points, and he continued to launch 3-pointers on every Furman possession, including 3 attempts inside the final minute (with a 40 point lead!) and including his final three point attempt as time expired!
He missed his last 5 official three point attempts in the last 2 minutes of the game, and he missed 9 of his last 10 three point attempts down the stretch. Plus he was fouled on several other three point attempts as North Greenville tried to keep him from accomplishing this embarrassing attempt to chase the record. Counting the ones he was fouled on (which do not count as official shot attempts), he attempted 13 three pointers in the final 7 minutes and only made one in his desperate attempt to set a new record! Crazy. He and his coach should be ashamed.-

        More records...

last night Greenville came to play Eureka College and Eureka pulled out a 161-153 win
        http://www.eurekareddevils.com/sport...201902122s8e51

Eureka's 161 points set an all time record for them, and also
Peoria Christian's Dakota (Cody) Bennington set Eureka's all time scoring record with 51 points - breaking Shea Feehan's 49 points
He was 20-29 from the field and 10-14 from the FT line

        Other scoring totals...
Richwoods' Hank Thomas had 28 pts and 14 assists
Washington IL's Alex Wiegand had 36 pts on 16-16 from the field
        Metamora's Jordan Dehm had 18 pts & 12 reb

        Greenville took 62 3-pt attempts (27-62, 43.5%)
Eureka shot 48 FT attempts (36-48 ) and had 48 assists as a team

interesting - one of the Eureka kids tried to raise money for tuition by GoFundMe

Eureka College Men's Basketball earns an NCAA bid and will play in the NCAA Tournament (D-III)
This is is interesting because Eureka lost their #1 player and top scorer Shea Feehan who transferred to Evansville for his final season.
So Eureka has a great year and goes dancing - and Shea Feehan & the Aces (altho he did get a year playing DI) will finish last place and no post-season (unless they win four games in St. Louis)
