Just when you thought you had seen it all....

then there's this play from a DIII game Monday night...

the defensive player checks over his right shoulder to be sure the baseline ref isn't watching then he decks the shooter with a hard fist punch direct to the jaw...
It is the most uncalled for, flagrant act I think I have ever seen in basketball....
There was a 2nd ref seen at the bottom of the video - so the kid did get caught, got a technical and ejection

I hope he gets a lifetime ban from college sports

This is the worst thing I have seen in awhile. He failed at making it look accidentally done. He was out to hurt instead of just setting a physical tone. Hopefully this was a one time thing with this kid. If not , organized sports may not be for him lol.

Ironically, the kid who elbowed the shooter (Kewan Platt of D3 Fitchburg State) was just named the Player of the Week in their conference.
This elbowing incident occurred Tuesday night, and the outcry after this video went viral was amazing. Here is a twitter search for Kewan Platt, and there are thousands of people condemning what he did and the fact that Fitchburg State did not immediately suspend and discipline the kid-

But finally this afternoon, after the widespread condemnation, Fitchburg State suspended Platt indefinitely and banned him from campus-
Kewan Platt, a guard for Division III Fitchburg State, has been suspended indefinitely and barred from campus for a vicious elbow to the face of a Nichols College player during a game.

Also, the team's conference (the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference) has announced that they have vacated Platt's Player of the Week award.

Here is another slightly longer video showing what might have precipitated the incident. On the previous possession, Kewan Platt attempted a three point shot, and might have been fouled by the kid who was elbowed. Platt airballs the shot and appears to complain to the ref. The he races back on defense and levels the kid with the elbow.
