If anyone is interested in listening to the Illinois State-Lewis exhibition game tonight...

it will be on radio station WZND 103.3FM starting at 7pm

but that's a pretty low-power FM station from Normal (23 watts) so likely you won't be able to get that on radio unless you are really close to ISU.

but the game can also be heard on computer, phone or device (audio-stream) by clicking on the link right across the bottom here:
    http://wznd.com/

and then turn the volume on and it will be audio-streamed

    and just for interest sake.....

Valparaiso junior guard Micah Bradford, who some have projected as a starter this year, has not been practicing with the team due to a back injury. He could miss a couple games. However, he is expected to serve a 2 game suspension when he does return, related to his arrest for multiple felony charges earlier this year.

The charges were dismissed in late October after he entered a pretrial diversion agreement in April and completed a 6-month program, including community service.

Valparaiso's starters for their first exhibition game Thursday, Nov.1, against D2 University of Indianapolis are expected to be grad-transfer Deion Lavender, junior, Bakari Evelyn, freshman Javon Freeman, Providence transfer Ryan Fazekas, and sophomore forward Mileek McMillan, according to coach Matt Lottich.
A bit surprising to see returning players Markus Golder and Derrik Smits not starting. I can't find any report of injuries to them.

Coach Lottich also announced that junior center Jaume Sorolla is expected to miss 2 weeks with an ankle injury.

          ISU leads 46-37 at half
ISU finished the half on a 12-2 run otherwise it's been close...with Lewis leading 35-34 after the first 15 minutes.
Josh Jefferson has 10 pts, Fayne 9, Tinsley 8, Idowu 4 and nobody else has more than 1 basket
...but one concern - only 4 ISU players have even one rebound...with Fayne at 6
          ..

NORTHERN KENTUCKY (who Bradley beat in a closed scrimmage) just clobbered Thomas More 84-47

Bradley's Thursday opponent Carroll University trails Marquette at half 41-22

Missouri State leads Evangel 50-15 in the 2nd half...Evangel is an NAIA picked to finish last in their conference

            ISU beats Lewis 80-58
the Redbirds played fairly well -
Lewis shot poorly 34% overall, 21% from 3-pt
            Fayne had 20, Jefferson 15, Copeland 11
ISU shot 27 of 55 shots from beyond the arc...so we gotta defend them there...

Missouri State ended up beating Evangel 77-28, holding Evangel to 1-28 shooting from 3-pt and 12% shooting overall

              Marquette beat Bradley's Thursday opponent Carroll 87-44 - https://gomarquette.com/boxscore.asp...79&path=mbball

UMass beat Westfield 84-60 with former Bradley recruit Luwane Pipkins scoring 21 and Sy Chatman started & scored 4 pts in 23 minutes

Bradley's Dec. 18 opponent Georgia Southern won a charity exhibition against DI Charleston Southern 79-61
Georgia Southern's Quan Jackson 17, Montae Glenn 14, Tookie Brown 13, David-Lee Jones, Jr. 12, and Ike Smith 11 all scored double figures

Illini transfer Michael Finke scored 16 as Grand Canyon beat Montana State-Billings 97-60. Younger brother Tim Finke had 2 pts.

Dayton played a closed scrimmage but they discussed the results. Dayton lost by 9 pts to ACC preseason cellar dweller Pitt.

Wichita squeaked by an opponent named Catawba - who stayed within one possession most of the game and even led in the 2nd half.
Shockers should have won by 40 but they did not play well.
They won their two exhibitions last year by 95 points - or an average of 47.5 points per exhibition.

Thought ISU looked pretty good for having only 8 healthy, and 4 of those playing their first real D1 minutes. Not a lot of drop-off from 1 to 8. Yarborough and Evans are both back for Saturday's exhibition game so talent level looks pretty high at ISU. Jefferson surprised me as he was definitely more than just a shooter.
Cheering with pep and vim for the white and purple!

I thought ISU looked good as well - they will be strong when they all get healthy....
but Lewis does not look like they have the size, strength or scorers they often seem to have - coming off a 15-14 year -
and Lewis had an off night, shooting poorly - ..and yet for almost a half, Lewis held even with them

When ISU put their two big men in at the same time (Fayne & Idowu) then over the final four minutes of the 1st half, Lewis couldn't stop them.
ISU went 11-2 in those final four minutes and that was basically the way the game went for most of the 2nd half.

But, as I said, I think the single best thing a team must do against ISU to have a chance to beat them is to vigorously defend the 3-pt shot. We saw the same thing last year - they launch a lot of threes and last night was no exception - half their shots came from there.

                            I know it's exhibition season...but....

WIU won their 2nd exhibition 108-64 over Iowa Wesleyan

Sophomore sharpshooter Kobe Webster (former Indiana Elite star) was 6-8 from 3-pt and scored 22 pts - adding 4 asst for WIU

So in the two exhibition games he is 12-14 from behind the arc.

Last season he was 59-161 (37%) but something here hints he may do better this year

I was surprised to see how many minutes SIU played their starters last nite vs. their DII opponent - especially considering they really blew East Central out in the 2nd half
...the Salukis did not demonstrate much depth despite the hype about returning 5 starters and a former starter plus having a deep bench...

...even with a 30+ point lead they played 3 starters 32 minutes or more and another guy almost 30 minutes...
SIU only got 57 minutes from their bench (by contrast their opponent got 83 minutes & Bradley got 93 minutes in their game)
but the bench only contributed 17 pts (BU got 34)

As expected, Milik Yarbrough's discipline for his multiple arrests and recent hit and run was just for the first exhibition game against Lewis. Dan Muller confirmed that Yarbrough will play in ISU's second exhibition game Saturday against Augustana.

Keyshawn Evans, who sat out the Lewis exhibition game due to injury, will also play Saturday.

Augustana is picked to win their conference - so it appears ISU is actually concerned - they probably don't want to get upset like Valpo
