Barone of course was a Bradley assistant for 7 years until Creighton hired him to rebuild their program. He went on to be a Memphis Grizzlies assistant (reuniting with Versace) and served as interim head coach after Fratello was fired in 2006.

indeed - he was a huge part of Bradley's resurgence in the 1980's

and Tony really doesn't have much at all as a connection to Loyola - simply that he was the college head coach for Porter Moser and also - just happened to be the college head coach of Loyola's opponent, Winona State's head coach Todd Eisner
..but I am pleased that the Loyola people gave Tony such a nice ceremony.
btw- their attendance last night for a very early exhibition game was 2,882...
which doesn't sound massive - BUT - it's more than all but THREE of their games last year and in some prior years that would have been their largest crowd!
True to his personality, Porter Moser wanted to go higher. So after Moser’s freshman season at Creighton, the 6-foot-2 guard signed up for a summer class promising to increase his vertical ju…

Hillsdale is a small private DII school from Hillsdale MI

the game was really close the whole way - within 2 points all the way 'til the final minute...
when Oakland hit a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left to give them a 5-point lead -
Hillsdale then had to try fouling and ended up losing 67-61...

Barone has been battling lung cancer so I sense he may not be doing well if Loyola felt compelled to honor him now rather than during the regular season. I grew up watching Versace/Barone teams and wish the family well during this difficult time.
