  • ISU 80 - Drake 65

From the box score, A.J. Calvin had a nice game for Drake- 15 points, 10 rebounds, and Cox had 14/5 off the bench, but nobody else contributed much.
Levi Dyer has turned into an offensive juggernaut for ISU. He had 27 points.

The Bears playoff game and the time change conflicting with church services really hurt the attendance. 3,988 has to be among the lowest attendance figures for a conference game since ISU entered the MVC.

Levi Dyer has always been one of ISU's better players. He lit us up last season at Redbird Arena, but that was still not enough for an ISU win.

Your right on the attendance. Bears game + early start time, etc...not condusive to getting a good crowd, especially when we've been struggling to get butts in the seats as it is. Although today, there were people scattered everywhere, including way up in the upper bowl. So if not for the Bears game, we mightve gotten a pretty good crowd today. We had 2 choices: Play the game at the initial start time, and have nobody but the teams and refs at the arena, or move the game up 2 hours and have that interfere with church, hangovers, and/or pregame festivities for the Bears game. I personally wouldve liked to have bumped the start time BACK, not forward, to 7PM, but oh well.

Our attendance is down this year again anyway. Pretty much just the diehards show up, and there arent many of us. Today was the diehards of the diehards But nonetheless, I didnt care if it was 10 people or 10,000. I just wanted a win, and we got one.

Not lookin forward to heading to Peoria on Wed. When you guys are on, your pretty much lethal. How about you have your 2 worst shooting games when you play my 'Birds this season eh?

Why would anyone miss a college basketball game because they wanted to stay home and watch millionaires play football is beyond me. But like I always say, the state built ISU a new arena they didn't need. The only time they get a half way decent crowd is when they play BU.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

ISU has won their last 2 games (over WSU and Drake). But they have possibly the toughest remaining schedule. Only 3 more home games against BU, UE, and CU, and road games at BU, SIU, MSU, WSU, InSU, and UNI. I would be surprised if they win more than 1 or 2 more conference games.--

              Wed, Jan 24 at Bradley
Sat, Jan 27 at Southern Ill.
              Tue, Jan 30 home Evansville
              Sat, Feb 3 home Bradley
Tue, Feb 6 at Missouri St.
Sun, Feb 11 at Wichita St.
Wed, Feb 14 at Indiana St.
              Tue, Feb 20 home Creighton
Sat, Feb 24 at Northern Iowa

Dyer has played well in flashes, but several weeks ago I questioned on the message board why he wasn't playing more.
Early in the season, Dyer was a deep sub, playing as little as 5 minutes in games like the Sacramento State game and SMU and Florida State.

Since he was inserted into the lineup a few weeks ago in the UIC game, he has averaged 16.5ppg!
Wonder what took PM so long to figure this out?

Maybe he is not a good practice player?

Dyer has improved a lot. He should get consideration for most improved player in the Valley. He's tough to guard right now. He has added a workable post game and he draws a lot of fouls and is a good FT shooter.

He's developed nicely and is playing with a great deal of confidence.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

                      I really like his shot.
Bradley had better be ready to guard him 20+ feet out. He reminds me of Steve Novak of Marquette last year. For 6'10", he is a better player on the perimeter than in the post.

I have seen you say this numerous times, and I have always wondered why you say this?

About 80% of the cost was paid for with a new student fee to purchase the bonds, about 20% was fundraising.

Now if by state you meant students who are enrolled at ISU, I would agree with that.

But if you meant money was given by the state to help construct Redbird Arena....I would say you are wrong on that point.
