I ran across this old photo on Twitter

it is Bradley playing St. John's and based on the appearance of what looks like old Madison Square Garden and the players on the floor,
it would be from March 16, 1950 in the NIT (Bradley won 83-72)

appears to be Bill Mann (#11), Elmer Behnke (#32) and Charles Grover (#14) in the picture..........of course Melchoierre and his brother were on that team-along with future Braves coach Stan Albeck & Woodruff ace Zack Monroe-who later pitched for the NY Yankees

you are right, I had already done a little digging and identified the 3 main players
..if I am not mistaken, I think if you look at the blown up version of this picture- you can spot Squeaky & AJ sitting on the bench

This is the year BU played in the championship games of both the NIT and the NCAA losing to CCNY in both games.

Joe Stowell was on this team, too.
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.
