  • ISU Suspends Milik Yarbrough

omg - what did he do this time

Read the latest local sports news for Bloomington–Normal, Illinois, along with 60 communities and eight counties in the Central Illinois area featuring updates and scores from the latest events at

unless he is in jail, I suspect the suspension will be lifted before they play

reminds me of when ISU's Brandon Sampay got caught with a DUI and they announced he was immediately and indefinitely suspended from ALL TEAM ACTIVITIES!
Then the very next morning was the first day of practice (they called it their "boot camp") and the Pantagraph posted a video of the team practicing and guess what?
Brandon Sampay was right there with all the other players, fully engaged in all activities - then when the season started he played in every game and every exhibition - not even a hint of being suspended...
and also never an explanation of why they said one thing then did the opposite. Another player- Levi Dyer got a DUI that they knew about all summer but only after it got found out and reported & discussed on the message board then he got supposedly "suspended" but still played in every game. There are plenty of others, too - including Quintin Brewer with two FELONY DUI's who never got a suspension...and Bobby Hill who was kept on the team even while being convicted of raping a child (an underage victim).
ISU has a long, long history of non-existent discipline and lying about suspending players.

Already the discussion on Twitter & elsewhere doesn't even show concern for what prompted this suspension - but only a worry that they might not finish first without him!

How many disciplinary issues does this make for Milik Yarbrough? I believe in 2nd chances, but 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, etc.? And as usual with the minimal-discipline approach by Dan Muller, they are not releasing any details, and I am sure they hope to "handle the matter internally" and with the benefit of a friendly press in Blo-No, maybe it will just not be mentioned again.

Yarbrough is a thug and a cancer. There are few legitimate coaches who would put up with his act. Yes, he plays basketball well, and that seems to make all the difference to a few coaches who don't care about discipline and care only about winning and advancing their careers..
It's 100% certain this suspension will disappear by their first game.

last time was for beating up his girlfriend and the time before that was for ignoring all the court dates and subpoenas for his snubbing court dates, then before that several other violations, getting caught with liquor (underage) and theft....
..and yes, Muller will say exactly that -
"there will be no further information"
      "it will be handled internally"
"he will be fully suspended - (until we need for him to practice or play)"

I don't believe Bradley has had a single player suspension for four years and none in the Wardle era..
Yarbrough alone has had as many arrests & "suspensions" as all of Bradley's players over the past DECADE - or possibly even two decades - combined...(altho I don't think he's ever missed a game or exhibition)

should we do a pick-em for guesses as to what he did that prompted this suspension - but then, we probably will never know...

Here is the Pantagraph article, and of course it says nothing that ISU didn't tell them to write.
        https://www.pantagraph.com/sports/co...ca3817724.html

Investigative journalism is a thing of the past, and especially with sports writers, who now simply repeat press releases issued to them by the schools.

Yarbrough has already had 9 separate entries into the McLean County Criminal Database in less that 2 years! That is more than most people would ever come close to in their lifetime! Yet he has never missed any games due to disciplinary actions. What a joke.

There are people, including an ISU insider I am close with, who know about what is currently going on, so it wouldn't take Jim Benson much to find out, but my guess is that he doesn't want to upset the powers at ISU, and wouldn't print or tweet the facts even if he did know more. But more likely, he won't even bother trying to find out the truth.
And of course, the ISU fans are only concerned that Yarbrough is reinstated before the season starts (which he will be unless he's in jail). They have been so conditioned to lack of discipline, and couldn't care less what Yarbrough does off the court. They would prefer there was no discipline at all, and are just annoyed when it affects a key player.

          not without Dan's permission
..but then we have the far opposite extreme here - we do get things reported even if completely false or erroneous or outright lies for the purpose of their anti-BU agenda - and they would never consider checking with the staff to be sure it was accurate or fair ...
Examples - lies about the attendance, calling and getting anonymous, false criticisms from long ago-fired incompetent & disgruntled employees just to smear KK, the lies KW told that the BU expansion plans & land acquisition plans had been kept secret when, in fact, they were OPENLY presented and discussed at meetings KW was free to attend, and they were on full display in the hallway right outside Jim Les' office even as he wrote that the plans were being kept secret, and about who cancelled the fan-favorite ITOO event & others... We've had to correct lies by PJS many, many times... Maybe we won't have to as much any more now that one of their big BU-haters is gone.

update...so this is related to serious events that just happened this morning...
Milik Yarbrough is apparently in jail currently awaiting court appearance...

"Yarbrough was in custody Wednesday morning in connection with a traffic citation
for failure to provide information and aid in an injury-related accident."

"He was arrested by Normal police, who were not available Wednesday morning to answer questions
about the circumstances of the incident. He is expected to appear in court Wednesday afternoon on the charges."

...so he hit somebody? (I thought his license was suspended) - and then took off and left injured people there?
The judge ought to be aware of all his prior times snubbing court dates and ignoring subpoenas - so maybe he would be denied bail?

but still- the ISU people will argue "it's just a minor traffic infraction.." and quickly restore him to full status on the team -
I would be astounded if he actually serves any significant suspension...

BTW- he is already on TWO different court supervision protocols for his former convictions, offenses & arrests...
is the judge gonna have the guts to reinstate all those charges & penalties since this clearly is a serious violation of those prior supervision terms?

The judge needs to act to get this clown off the streets.........

one of the personnel from WZND (the Illinois State University radio station)
              has just said this...
"Through police reports obtained by @WZND,
Milik Yarbrough was arrested last night on charges
related to a traffic incident a couple days ago."

so...the incident happened "a couple days ago" but he left the scene and was later identified by police who came either late Tuesday or Wednesday morning to arrest him?
But obviously Muller was completely in the dark and didn't know a thing about it "a couple days ago" when it happened
..and Muller was probably awakened this morning by a phone call from the jail asking for bail money...
This gets more interesting all the time...

Anyway - the radio station got the "police reports obtained by @WZND" but the details are not yet available through the court database - but then that is commonplace that since the arrest was just this morning - the details might not show up until tomorrow.

Again, from an ISU insider, I am hearing that this could turn out to be potentially very serious- leaving the scene of an accident in which there were injuries is a felony in Illinois.
                https://www.criminallawyerillinois.c...t-in-illinois/ (see paragraph 8 )

Yarbrough is still on Court Supervision from his latest reckless conduct legal case, and that extends to July 18, 2019, and that sentence was handed down by a lenient judge while Yarbrough was already on Court Supervision for a previous case in May when he was caught driving on a suspended licence and failed to appear for court dates. He now has boosted his cases from 9 to 10 separate violations recorded in the McLean County database.

But as we showed with his last case in that watered down Reckless Conduct case stemming from abuse of a girlfriend, the judge, the prosecutor, and Yarbrough's own attorney are all ISU grads, donors, and fans. They made sure he got off light, didn't do any more prison time, and more importantly, did not miss any games. But can the powers at ISU pull this one off?

I am also hearing from sources that this is more serious than a simple traffic offense....
...like, when's the last time anyone had a traffic accident then a couple days later the police tracked them down, came to their home, arrested them, held then IN JAIL and set up a court date for that SAME DAY?
I hear there's lawyers involved and efforts to keep this quiet...

Hey, I have gotten traffic tickets, but I have never had the cops come to my home, cuff me & throw me in the slammer....
so let's wait til the whole story comes out if it ever does...

one wonders why if the accident happened "a couple days ago" - that the police have not added the details to the McLean database

Just because it's traffic doesn't make it minor. There are plenty of felonies handled in traffic court-- aggravated DUIs, vehicular manslaughter, and hit-and-run where someone got hurt, like what this sounds like. Of course whether he's actually guilty or they got the wrong guy I don't know, but he's lost the benefit of the doubt.

                      updated info

"According to a Normal police report, Yarbrough's vehicle allegedly struck a
woman at 2:27 a.m. Sunday as she stepped into the street in the 300 block of
North Fell Avenue. The woman was treated at the scene for injuries to her foot
                      and elbow.

The incident was administratively closed until Tuesday when two passengers in
Yarbrough’s car reported the possible hit and run to Normal police. Officers
arrested the ISU player at 9:44 p.m. on the misdemeanor charge."

what I have heard from separate sources is that the ISU police knew about the incident and apparently issues no arrests....
but then when Normal police got the multiple separate reports of the hit & run they had to act and came & arrested Yarbrough...
2:27am on Sunday?? Has this guy not learned? Was he given a breathalyzer or was he treated soft because he's a BMOC?
Smells like an effort to hide & coverup so he can remain eligible...

There are several people on the Redbird fan board who are claiming Yarbrough is "being targeted" by Normal and ISU police, and that other players have been too. Nothing could be further from the truth. If anything, he is being let off easy because of his "celebrity" status in Normal.

I have heard from a reliable source that Yarbrough has been stopped many times by those police for violations, and was let go without being cited because he was Milik Yarbrough! He has at least 3 police stops by Normal and ISU police just in the first week of this month of September. And he was let go every time, according to my source! And those 3 stops do not even include this recent Sept. 9 accident and subsequent arrest last night! And according to my source, he had a good reason why he left the scene of the early morning accident in this current case. You can guess what it was.

And just who were the "two passengers" who took over 2 days to decide to report the "possible hit and run to the Normal police"? Even passengers in a hit and run vehicle can be subject to serious charges if they fail to report a hit and run, especially when injuries are involved. A report must be filed within 24 hours for all such hit and run accidents, and within 30 minutes if serious injury or death occurred..
