DeRose sure knows how to coach and win but his offensive style and system is BORING. He really knows how to make the most with limited offensive talent each year. The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to all emergencies... - John Walter Wayland

Bradley men's soccer is 3-0-1, and host the Bradley Invitational starting tonight. The 5-team event includes Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Wisconsin, Mercer and Missouri State
Bradley plays Eastern Illinois (1-1-1) tonight (Friday, Sept. 7) at 7:00 PM, and again Sunday (Sept. 9) at 6:00 PM against Wisconsin (2-2-0).
PEORIA, IL – More reunions, the renewal of an in-state rivalry and a visit from a B1G opponent all will be storylines when Bradley Soccer hosts Eastern Illinois, Wisconsin, Mercer and Missouri State for this weekend's Bradley Invitational Friday and Sunday at Shea Stadium. The five-team event features three 2017 conference champions, as well as a Bradley squad trying to extend one of the nation's longest active unbeaten streaks (6-0-3). Mercer won the 2017 Southern Conference Tournament championship, Missouri State won the 2017 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title and Wisconsin captured the 2017 Big Ten Conference Tournament crown.
Friday's match is on ESPN3.com, and is free to watch. The Sunday match is on ESPN's new subscription streaming service ESPN+.
Interesting facts- Although Bradley does not play Mercer, the game will be of interest to Bradley's coach Jim DeRose. Mercer's starting goalkeeper is J.R. DeRose, Jim's son. J.R. is a redshirt sophomore who has lead Mercer to a 4-0-0 start, playing all 360 minutes for the mercer Bears in goal, and allowing only 3 goals this season for a 0.75 goals against average.
Mercer's head coach is Brad Ruzzo, who was on the Bradley staff for eight seasons from 2000-07, helping lead the Braves to four Missouri Valley Conference championships and four NCAA Tournament appearances in his time here.
