IHSA already had "mercy rules" in baseball, soccer and football but now the mercy rule comes to all IHSA High School Boys & Girls basketball games during the regular season.
The rule will apply to ALL games (except post-season), if the lead by either team reaches 30 points at any time in the 4th quarter, then the clock runs continuously (except for time-outs/injuries/technical fouls) the rest of the game no matter how large/small the lead may subsequently become.
..also due to new IHSA Classification cutoff ranges, Peoria Central High School moves from 3A in basketball to 4A!
Their enrollment is 1357 and the new cutoff between 3A & 4A is 1353
Dunlap has grown to 1304 and will likely also move past the cutoff soon into 4A.
