Here is a preseason summary of the Big West Conference by a pretty good mid-major blogger. He has some nice words about Jim Les-
By Kevin Sweeney The Big West is back on the rise. A league that had developed a reputation as one of the best one-bid leagues in the nation over the past several years bottomed out in 2016-17, wit…

ISU plays an exhibition game against Lewis tonight...and just as some predicted, ISU enters the exhibition game with the least depth I can recall them ever having.

        The ISU beat reporter says...
"ISU goes into the game short-handed with only eight players available.
..All the ISU newcomers figure to see playing of action against Lewis, especially with the shorter roster."

..of the 8 available players, three are or were walk-ons...

This might be a stupid question. Why is it that a team with such a good record of late has only 5 scholarship players and 3 walk ons?

They currently have 2 players out injured- Keyshawn Evans and Taylor Bruninga
Plus Milik Yarbrough will not play as a sham disciplinary move for his innumerable arrests, hit and run, etc.
Then they have a freshman scholarship player who is academically ineligible- Abdou Ndiaye, and they have 3 scholarship transfers (Keith Fisher, Jaycee Hillsman, & Dedris Boyd) who are sitting out this season because of NCAA transfer rules.
That is 7 scholarship players who will not be playing tonight.

So that leaves 5 full time scholarship players available- Fayne, Copeland, Tinsley, Jefferson, and freshman Rey Idowu. I think former walk-on Matt Hein is now on scholarship after Elijah Clarance unexpectedly left and opened a scholarship, so that actually might make 6 scholarship players available. They also have walk-ons Matt Chastain & Isaac Gassman.

also- walk-on Lijah Donnelly is sitting out altho so many transfers lately have gotten waivers to play right away - wonder why none of the ISU guys were able to get such a waiver?

I thought Muller had decided to let the court case play out before deciding whether Yarbrough missed games or not. So which is it? Is he giving him the presumption of innocence or does he think he did it?

As one of our long time posters, Macabre Mob, would say, "a little schadenfreude".

Maybe this quasi-suspension is for the robbery, the alcohol-related arrest, the multiple times he's been caught driving on a suspended license & driving without insurance, the arrest for the warrant last February for defying all his prior court dates and the girlfriend-beating case -- all of which cases he has already been convicted of..

Thanks, DC. That clears it up.

All of that and he is suspended for 1 pre-season game?

yeah - after all the times Muller has been exceedingly lax and failed to discipline anyone even with rapes & drug arrests -
this time he seems to be really laying it on hard and hammering poor Milik with a one-preseason-exhibition suspension!
The media can never again call ISU a renegade program....

                            Depth is not an issue.
Depth is getting better and better !

we're 3-4 days into these rumors of ISU adding another big man...and nothing has happened yet -- is Abdou gonna get cleared?
