Bol has more knee surgery

What a shame. For those who didn't know, Thik Bol suffered a knee injury just prior to the season this past season, and underwent surgery Nov. 3, 2017. Little details were ever released, but it must not have been a complete ligament tear, since Bol was preparing to return to play in late December, 2017, when he reinjured the knee and was declared out for the rest of the season. He never did play and took a medical redshirt year.
In his only season (2016-17) after transferring to SIU from Iowa Western CC, he averaged 9.1 ppg and 6.8 rpg.

they said his knee was recovered and ready to go and so he was warming up to make his return ....
They announced he had practiced that week leading up to the Drake game on 12/31/2017 and was cleared to play, and their own pre-game press release said Bol was "expected to return to play for the first time vs. Drake".
Then Bol went thru warmups on the court before the game as if he was going to play...and right up to gametime everyone including the announcers & media thought he was going to play.
But he did not play and then after the game, Barry Hinson told the press that the decision had been made 24 hours earlier to give up on playing this season - and they even had told all the other players that morning...
..but then he offered exactly zero reasoning why Bol then dressed and was on the floor warming up to play that game.
