The U.S. may not be at the World Cup, but it pulled off a win in Russia all the same: The globe's biggest event is returning to North America.
Good for the US. Did anyone else go to any World Cup games back in 2014 when it was last held in the US? It was a lot of fun!
Unfortunately, the US Men's National team did not qualify for this year's (2018 ) World Cup in Russia. But by hosting, it guarantees they will be automatically qualified to participate in 2026. But the USMNT will need to rebuild and get a lot better to compete in 2022 (in Qatar) and in 2026.
After living in Qatar for 3.5 years I can assure you the 2022 World Cup will be a circus.
Yes, thanks for the correction. It was a brain cramp. I went to a game in Chicago with my kids when they were little, so I knew it was 1994. It was a really big thing and I expect it to be again in 2026. I just hope the US can become a lot more competitive by 2022 and 2026.
And with all the bribes and corruption that we already know went on to get the 2022 WC in Qatar, it has already been quite a circus.
