As we first reported back on March 9, Ryan does not want to play D1 basketball any more and this confirms what we reported that he told the coaches, that he simply wanted to be a regular student and transfer to University of Missouri.

BTW, we will soon be hearing where our other transfer will land.

well, Barker has landed in the Australian NBL (State Leagues) as backup center for the Hobart Chargers.
The fact that he is not in school, and thus not working towards becoming a grad-transfer - means he will prob go DII so he can play right away

Good for Ryan. He obviously didn't have the love for the game that's required to be a college player. takes guts to admit that. I'm sure he will be much happier moving forward.

To many, playing sports becomes like a job after so many years and it loses its appeal.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

I understand nothing is as simple as plug and play, but it's too bad Cunningham did not stick it out. I honestly think we would have been in the tournament with him and DT.

Cuonzo Martin loses a bunch of firepower and obviously doesn't have anyone who shoots 52% FROM 3-PT RANGE like Ryan did this year...
Gotta wonder if someone's gonna tip off Cuonzo and he's going do some back yard recruiting

I don't see this happening. Ryan doesn't want to play any more.

And it's no secret he is there. I'm sure Martin knows.
I may be possible a year away from the game he'll miss it and he change his mind.. who knows. But for now he appears done.

Exactly, he probably knows that the chances of any DI athlete making it to the next level are slim and just wants to have a more relaxed and normal college experience. You can't blame him for that, being a part of any college team is a huge time commitment. Best of luck to him at Mizzou.

This happens more than what you think. Not so much at the D1 level but not uncommon at D3

Depends on if you define "next level" as NBA or just pro. Because there's a lot of pro opportunities for D1 basketball players overseas.

Sorry to bring up an old post but found this online. Looks like he is getting into some trouble down at Mizzou.

Wow, a little surprising. Ryan seemed like a nice kid from a great family. From that video, it sounds like there might have been a little drinking involved.
Most kids probably do dumb things they regret in college, but there is no excuse for this.
