  • and AWAAAAY we go!!

What great news!! This addition of Ari Boya could completely change the face of Bradley Basketball. While there will be much work to do with Ari and integrating him into our offense and defense, the outlook for the next few years is terrific....MVC Championships, NCAA/NIT tournaments, Great RPIs and possible top 25 rankings, big jumps in game attendance, more major recruiting successes, and improved schedules....All the while running a clean program with great academics. and AWAAAAAY we go!!

I sure hope that you are right, Wizard. I am very glad we have Ari on board now. I have said, in the past, that I think Coach Wardle has his targets set higher now, as we have a good team that is on the rise and competitive. We did beat Loyola this past season. The higher targets are few and far between with our academic standards for the kids we bring in. Kudos to our very good Coaching staff!! We are getting the kind of athletes that we need to continue our climb back to the top of the MVC.

I do believe Ari Boya can become a real difference-maker for Bradley, but I don't expect him to be All-MVC caliber right away. It will take some time. I see him coming off the bench initially, and contributing 15-18 minutes per game. I expect Boya and Bar will split time at the center position, while van Bree, Childs, and Bile will rotate at the other forward position(s).

I'm really excited for this upcoming season. Looks like we have a good path ahead of us with the new recruits. Wardle has brought Bradley Basketball up from rock bottom but can he bring it all the way to the top? I think this next season is a huge proving point for the program. I'm hoping we can improve and make it into the NIT/NCAA tournament.

            And AWAAAAAY we go!!

t...MY criticism of a couple of areas is 100% based on a desire to improve our BB Program, It is not in any way a reflection of a loss or diminished positive and optimistic outlook for the program.
We need a more transparent and open line of communications with our coaches. Radio shows, and Q. & A. sessions are fine but they do not replace one-on-one contact with coaches. Our fans want this.
Secondly, we need a better program of pre and post season fan/player/coach events. We did not have a post season banquet after a very good year and , thus far, we have seen no plans for Summer/Fall pre-season events. Maybe we need another Ken Goldin.
Thirdly, while recruit evaluations are difficult and we sometime "miss" on a recruit, This should not happen to a player on our squad who we see almost every day in practice and in games. There are ways to approach a player who is not performing as we want....We have red shirts, we can council with the player, spend some time with him on development of skills, etc. before simply dumping him as we apparently did with Scottie James. Scottie was a late bloomer and we should have recognized this.
t...Again my criticism is in no way a result of a diminished positive or optimistic outlook. I am a 100% loyal, positive, and excited BU fan. My 45+
year record of very close and personal involvement with BU Basketball clearly
shows this. I suggest that you re-read my positive and optimistic posts in this regard.

              allow me to answer....

first - I have wanted & stumped for more off-season events - moreso than just about any other fan...but it is what it is ....I sure wouldn't want to deflect our staff's time away from recruiting and summer evaluations/workouts

then let me offer this about Scottie James....
--first, nobody knows the truth 100% except Scottie & Coach, but....
Scottie was NOT getting as much playing time as he liked, then his mother got a teaching position/professorship at Liberty University & the family became familiar with & friends with Coach McKay. Scottie wanted to move back east to Lynchburg - so his transfer was not all about getting booted from here...so I think it was largely a foregone conclusion he would play there.
