Some of the greedy owners of teams in the top pro Turkish league have withheld payment to players - and some players, ISU's Osiris Eldridge in particular, have not been paid for two to three months...
Finally, all the "import players" (those who are not Turkish citizens) on Eldridge's team, Trabzonspor Basketball, decided to protest by not playing Saturday,
(all five starters are among the imports) - so the team fired them all (Paul Harris, Sarunas Vailiauskas, Tomislav Zubcic, Osiris Eldridge, Chris Obekpa, Calep Green and Brady Heslip).
Most fans understand and have responded with support for the players but there are a lot of angry, hostile Turkish fans tweeting and saying some extremely hateful things.
Eldridge is one of the top scorers in the league and without him & the others who are now gone - Trabzonspor will likely get swept out or just have to forfeit their tourney games.
Right now this only affects the one team, Trabzonspor, but there are rumors other teams also have disgruntled players not being paid.
