Valley RPI post-Loyola run

According to a site that continues RPI rankings through the tournament, Loyola is now up to 13. I wondered what that would mean for the Valley's overall ranking, and according to this site we're a solid 8 but really close to the American, which is 7th.

Should Loyola's magic continue for two more games, I wonder if that would be enough to boost the MVC to 7th?

Regardless, no one could have predicted this for the conference after the departure of Wichita State. And I believe Loyola's run means good things for the MVC next year, too, in terms of recruiting, attendance, revenue, and -- this is wishful thinking -- the number of tournament bids.

It may seem like a small difference, but that is a big enough difference that I don't think even a win or two would boost the entire league RPI enough. But it would be nice to see what happens if they do win a couple more games!

Note that the MVC's RPI at that time, prior to the 4 Loyola wins in the NCAAT was 0.5259. So even with their wins over Miami, Tennessee, Nevada, and Kansas State, the MVC's RPI only rose from 0.526 to 0.529 (according to the TeamRankings.com website) or 0.5283 (according to WarrenNolan.com). A relatively small change.

It would have to rise to 0.539 to catch the American Athletic Conference. Probably not too likely.
