  • AJ Youngman transferring

Eastern Kentucky freshman and Peoria Manual HS grad (and former Bradley recruit) AJ Youngman is leaving EKU and transferring after the coaching change there
AJ averaged 3 ppg in a limited role altho later in the season he did start a few games.
He was 9th in minutes played on EKU but 5th in 3-pointers made

New Evansville assistant Terrence Commodore was the assistant at Eastern Kentucky last year and EVANSVILLE is now pursuing 3 EKU kids who are looking to transfer...

One is Dedric Boyd - mentioned as a Bradley target...

Eastern Kentucky has had 3 losing seasons in a row under Dan McHale, including 11-20 last year and they finished one game out of last place in the Ohio Valley Conference (the 18th ranked conference in RPI).
JMO, but if you are going to raid another team's roster to build your team around, I am not sure why they wouldn't aim a bit higher than EKU.

In March Eastern Kentucky slashed a few academic programs as cost savings..
They cut the Business Education program in which AJ was enrolled, leaving him no option but to transfer if he wanted to pursue that curriculum.

The NCAA allows in such situations that an athlete would not have to sit out a year upon transferring, so he is immediately eligible.

Eastern Kentucky University’s Board of Regent adopted a two-year, $25 million savings plan Friday. It includes reducing Eastern’s workforce by about 140…

any word on the transfer ? He seemed slow on the court at EKU -- just stood around waiting to shoot 3s and missed too many

turtle - do you know something? - where's he leaning towards?? Wasn't there some interest in playing his soph year at juco over in Iowa so he wouldn't have to sit out an entire year?

btw- he shot 39.5% from 3-pt range.

shooting seemed tail off late in season for some reason - I saw that the new Evansville coach was interested -- he does not have to sit out a year since EKU lost funding and dropped his major

one thing Barker, McGlaston, Bile, and Lundy all have in common-
they were all very late or very, very late spring/summer additions - and things just haven't worked out for any of them to get satisfactory playing time....

so I am sure AJ wants to be sure it's the right fit and not just an offer because the coach has a leftover scholarship..

ends up at some obscure Colorado JC -- not buying the reason he left EKU -- was another over hyped HS player that fizzled out -- BU caught a break by not offering and really Michigan St and West Virginia ? Way over hyped

maybe, but his team is 7-2 and he's averaging 11 ppg and shooting 43% from 3-pt...
IUPUI has a couple guys everyone else passed on and they're killing us tonight
