Loyola vs. Nevada - Sweet 16!

I thought I'd start a thread for those who, like me, are super excited about an MVC team playing in the Sweet 16 tonight.

It looks to be a toss-up, with Nevada a slight favorite (1.5 points in one line I saw). So the Ramblers have a pretty decent shot at the Elite 8. Incredible!

Because we were the last team to beat Loyola -- and were close to doing so again in St. Louis -- it gives me hope that Bradley is not that far from having a similar magical ride. But this spring, let's give it up for Loyola. Go get 'em, Ramblers!

Ever since Nevada came to Peoria I've really enjoyed watching them play. Jordan Caroline is an animal. But they have run into the one team that I can't root for them against. Go Ramblers! Whoever wins this game will be my rooting interest hopefully all the way to San Antonio. It's still hard to believe that Loyola hasn't lost since their trip to Peoria in late January.

Congrats, Loyola. This is wonderful for the Valley -- and just a lot of fun to watch! Will it help an MVC team with seeding or an at-large next year? History says no. But maybe one of these years if the Valley continues to shine in the Big Dance.

Another AWESOME game to watch with a great outcome for Loyola and the MVC. Now in the Elite 8.... and to think... here is a team that never got inside any Top 25 poll. Highest they got was tied for 27th in the USA Today Coaches poll and 27th in the AP poll at the end of the season.

Glad Wichita wasn't in MVC... a win or good performances against Wichita mighta bumped Loyola's seed to an awful 8-9 seed. I've always believed a Sweet 16 appearance is easier if getting snubbed and overlooked and put in the 11-14 seeds.
