The NAIA Division II National Championship game is set for tonight (Tuesday, March 13), and will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.
It will feature two NAIA schools from Indiana, and in fact, two schools from the same conference, The Crossroads League-
University of St. Francis (Fort Wayne, Indiana)- they are 29-8, and ranked #2 in the NAIA Division II poll. They defeated the #1 ranked team College of Idaho[/URL] to reach the championship game.
vs.
Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion, Indiana)- they are 30-7, and they have already beaten University of St. Francis 3 times this season (twice in the regular season and once in the championship of the Crossroads League Tournament). IWU beat Indiana University East to advance to the championship game tonight (Tuesday, March 13) in Sioux Falls, S.D. IWU won the National Championship in 2014 and 2016.
Bradley connection-
Former Bradley Brave Joel Okafor, who played for Bradley in 2015-16 as a freshman for Brian Wardle, is the starting point guard for Illinois Wesleyan. He had 18 points in their semifinal win. He has started all 36 games he has played in, he shoots 52% overall, 43.2% from three, and 71% on FTs. He averages 7.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, and 3.4 apg. He leads the team in assists and steals.
Joel is just a junior there, and has one more year of eligibility. Congratulations and good luck to Joel!
