  • NIT Bracket and info

NIT Bracket just released- all games (except the one noted) will be played on the home court of the higher seeded team-

    Region 1-
#1 Notre Dame vs. #8 Hampton
#4 Penn State vs. #5 Temple

    #3 Oregon vs. #6 Rider
    #2 Marquette vs. #7 Harvard

    Region 2-
    #1 Baylor vs. #8 Wagner
#4 Mississippi State vs. #5 Nebraska

#3 Middle Tennessee vs. #6 Vermont
#2 Louisville vs. #7 Northern Kentucky

    Region 3-
#1 USC vs. #8 UNC Asheville
#4 Western Kentucky vs. #5 Boston College

    #3 Stanford vs. #6 BYU
#2 Oklahoma State vs. #7 Florida Gulf Coast

    Region 4-
    #1 St. Mary's vs. #8 SE Louisiana
#4 Boise State vs. #5 Washington (game to be played at Washington)

    #3 LSU vs. #6 Louisiana
#2 Utah vs. #7 UC Davis

So Jim Les gets a lousy seed and a tough matchup at Utah

No Illinois State and no Southern Illinois. The NIT selection committee completely snubs the MVC as expected.

There are new experimental rules that the NCAA will use for the 2018 NIT-
The 2018 NIT will feature experimental rules intended to give data and feedback to the NCAA on potential rule changes.

??? The three-point line will be extended by approximately 1 foot 8 inches to the same distance used by FIBA for international competition (22 feet 1.75 inches).
??? The free throw lane will be widened from 12 feet to 16 feet, consistent with the width used by the NBA.
??? The games will be divided into four 10-minute quarters as opposed to two 20-minute halves. Teams will shoot two free throws beginning with the fifth foul of each quarter.
??? The shot clock will reset to 20 seconds after an offensive rebound instead of the full 30 seconds.

Bradley is officially not pursuing a postseason tournament. Only one valley team makes NCAA or NIT. I hate that.

Yes, as expected and as predicted here, Bradley released an official announcement at 8 PM that they will not participate in the CBI or the CIT.

There is a total of 100 teams in the NCAA and NIT tournament. Did the Valley have any teams in the Top 100 at the end of the season? If not, with the automatic bids for conference tournament winners of weak conferences and upsets in others, it makes it tough to get a bid if not in the top 100. I haven??™t really looked at the brackets yet. Other than Loyola, how many teams did wenpkayvthisvyear that are in either tournament?

Illinois State's RPI is #85, and SIU is at #100 (though ISU ranks a horrible 145 and SIU ranks 137 in Kenpom)...but I am not saying that either one should have gotten a bid. Considering how many auto-bids the NIT was forced to take this year, there was no chance ISU was getting a bid.

Heck, Bradley's Kenpom.com ranking is 125, 20 points better than ISU and 12 points better than SIU!

That is the worst. Donte as was only like 10 points from 1000. It is also good for the players and fans. Horrible move 👎

                      no respect for Nebraska...
they finish FOURTH in the Big Ten at 13-5 - tied with Michigan!
They have an RPI of 56
and get seeded lower than Mississippi State who was 9-9 in the SEC, 7th place
                      with an RPI of 73!

Would be interested in knowing when the last time the Valley had only 1 team in the NCAA tournament and 0 in the NIT. For a conference who is the 8th best, there is clearly and absolutely no respect. Perhaps the Creighton/Wichita effect is greater than we think?

Losing Wichita and Creighton are significant defections. I would be interested in knowing what the overall league record was against teams in the NCAA and NIT. It appears those leading the Bradley basketball program are truly committed to raising the expectations of the program. It is time for Bradley to make their next move up the ladder.

I thought we had someone on the committee. Not enough influence?

I think Dr. Reynolds term on the NCAA committee begins Sept 1st of this year.
