The Basketball Tournament returns for a 5th year. The summer $2 million winner-take-all basketball tournament that Bradley alumni have competed in the last couple years has announced the sites for the games. Recall that Bradley hosted the 2017 Midwest Regional last summer at the Renaissance Coliseum. This year, there were many more locations vying to host the Regionals, and it will not be returning to Peoria. Instead, the Midwest Regional will be held in Columbus, Ohio.
In the 2016 tournament, Always a Brave advanced to the Final Four, and in 2017 they advanced to the round of 16 before being eliminated by Scarlet & Gray, an alumni team of ex-Ohio State players.
Regional sites:
South – Arthur Ashe Jr. Center Richmond, Va. from July 13-15
West – Cal State University Los Angeles from July 13-15
Northeast – Long Island University of Brooklyn, N.Y. from July 20-22
Midwest – Capital University of Columbus, Ohio from July 20-22
The Super 16 will be held in Atlanta from July 26-29, with Georgia State University serving as the host venue.
The TBT semifinals and the $2 million championship game will return to Baltimore at a new venue – Morgan State University – Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 3.
Note that all but the Los Angeles regional are located in the Eastern time zone. Seems like tough luck for any team between the West Coast and the Mississippi River. They have a lot of traveling to do.
I have heard rumors that a Bradley alumni team will try again in 2018.
