  • ISU's Milik Yarbrough arrested, detained, and out on bond

was arrested and in custody Wed. morning, but now released after posting bond

...per news release from their BEAT REPORTER Jim Benson

    Benson says:
"Status unclear for Thursday game vs. SIU at Redbird Arena"

Maybe that's because there have been players who have been arrested before who have not had any discipline by Muller.

..update...he was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for his prior charges and court dates.... kinda just what I suspected was going to happen - LINK
They really should have been paying a little attention to his actions and inactions...
This is NOT just a traffic citations, he's repeatedly driving without a license and defying the court.

Why has Muller never taken this stuff seriously? Why did he wait until Yarbrough gets arrested and served with a warrant for defying the court?
Surely he knew about this? I know for a fact that when Bradley players had court dates, they were accompanied to court by the coaching staff to be sure this kind of thing didn't happen.

The official statement from ISU is that they know all about it and will handle it internally - but isn't that basically what they've been doing all along..or maybe they didn't know about it - even worse..

since players who have been arrested before have virtually never been disciplined by Muller by holding them out of games

If the ISU fans didn't spend twice the time blowing this stuff off as trivial and then attacking Bradley fans for noting it in the newspapers (which, btw- not one single Bradley player has had even the tiniest off the court issue since the Geno Ford/Mike Cross/Joanne Glasser era but ISU fans can dream on) then they'd be able to put some pressure on their admin to clean up their department and get rid of all the felons and repeat offenders. It worse than the thugs SIU used to have who attacked the police and kicked out the windows at the police station while in custody.
When is enough enough with this kid? And that's exactly what he is... a kid. It would be a absolute shame if Dirty Dan allows him to play tomorrow night. I'm not sure if anyone has popped in on the thread over on the ISU forum but man oh man are some of those guys in denial. It's comical.

Yeah, just "traffic violations"... "just a misdemeanor"..."boys will be boys"... it's all the fault of the people who point it out... just some of the lame excuses made by the delusional redbird fans.

Just a few years ago, ISU had a player who was allowed to remain on the team despite charges of sexual abuse of an underaged girl (Bobby Hill). He was allowed to continue participating in team activities and was only dismissed after he plead guilty to the charges. He had also had previous legal and disciplinary issues as well. He will have to register as a sexual offender the rest of his life.

Even more recently, ISU had another player (Geoffrey Allen) who was arrested and charged with "criminal conspiracy-marijuana and manufacture/delivery of 30 to 500 grams of marijuana", a drug dealing felony offense! Yet he remained on the team and was allowed to practice- He was quietly dismissed only after he plead guilty.

Then there was the case of Jamar Smiley, who was arrested for driving a stolen car, along with other violations and charged with a felony. All he got was "probation" from ISU. He ended up with a subsequent arrest for driving with an expired license, yet despite being on probation with felony charges pending, he was not disciplined at all!
          http://lydia.bradley.edu/campusorg/s...98/smiley.html
BTW, Smiley was a pretty good player, so suspending him might have hurt the team a little too much!

And more recently there was the case of Daishon Knight, who was arrested for punching a woman and resisting arrest right before the start of the 2013-14 season. He was suspended briefly, then quickly reinstated by Muller before ever missing a single regular season game, since he was a key player on the team and the team's top scorer. Knight was sentenced to 24 months conditional discharge and 100 hours community service, but he became a 2-year starter and never missed a single game!

And Milik Yarbrough was arrested and charged with theft last season, after he had been on campus only a short time-
          https://www.midmajormadness.com/2016...ilik-yarbrough

Don't forget...DJ Clayton, who was arrested along with Hawkins and Yarbrough,
And to go along with child molester Bobby Hill, and convicted drug dealer Geoffrey Allen, there was convicted cocaine dealer Rick Lamb who spent over 4 years in federal prison.

And there are more. And we are not even counting the innumerable lower level arrests and citations that have plagued the ISU program for decades. How many DUI's does it take for an ISU player to miss a game? Brandon Sampay (DUI), Levi Dyer (DUI), Quintin Brewer (two DUI's!), and several others I can come up with (if you want more names), never missed a game after they were outed to have had DUIs!

There have also been multiple ISU players in the past who have had DUI's and repeat DUI's, and remained on the team, as well as multiple former ISU players arrested for various other charges, some of which were never made public! Most of the players on the Redbird roster in recent years appear in the McLean County criminal database for various violations of the law. I can list their names if any ISU fan has trouble remembering, but anyone can look them up. One of them (Quintin Brewer) played only 1 grad-transfer season at ISU yet managed to compile 11 separate offenses in the McLean Country Criminal Database, including two separate DUI's, yet he never missed a single game! Another player, Deontae Hawkins, who left last year and transferred to Boston College, managed to compile 9 separate entries in the criminal database, including DUI and other alcohol-related charges. And there have been many more, including other felony level offenses. Even some of their current players can be found in the database.
Many of their legal issues in the past were kept secret by ISU until they were discovered and "outed" on fan message boards, and few of the offenders ever missed any real games.

Yes, there were a couple legal and disciplinary issues at Bradley during the Geno Ford era, and every incident was highly publicized here and in the media, and fans here were highly critical of the culture that existed then. But I cannot recall any past Bradley player with anything as serious as the kinds of violations ISU players have had, some of which are listed above. Can anyone recall the last time a Bradley player even got a DUI?

It would be so conflicting to root for players and a team that you weren't proud of off the court. I don't envy Redbird fans on this one.

...and it makes me thankful for what we have right now.

but when he got the 2nd DUI while his license was suspended for the 1st one, then the charge was upgraded to felony DUI - but he skipped town when he graduated and is still on the lam with warrants out for him
One of their best players a couple years ago was actually recruited while he was on trial in Florida for a felony, and he arrived on campus and played while he was serving his sentence for the felony conviction...and all the while, the local media is pretty generous in looking the other way on all these issues, unlike what happens here (unless it's during the Geno era)

Yes, Will bought a few street pills and got caught, the other two were cited for underage consumption but in all 3 cases, the players were disciplined, suspended, served their due time and charges were NOT pursued, so they have no convictions on record
All the Bradley guys have had their cases dismissed and removed from the database.
Not saying it didn't happen, but we're talking going back almost a decade (2009) while he ISU stuff is going on nearly every month regularly and never gets addressed.

I have been consistent in saying when the players have serious violations they should be suspended and then given a 2nd chance - but Yarbrough is already on his 3rd, 4th and 5th
..but somehow ISU fans can never address their own serious problem without first starting every sentence with "but there were Bradley guys a decade ago who had an underage consumption citation or whatever..."

                        I'm guessing that "status unclear" = "?"

BTW- prepare for the alibi-fest of how terribly unfair and bad luck it is that ISU has so many players out with injury.
But here's the truth--- all their significant players were 100% healthy until Evans tweaked his knee last game and he has yet to miss a start except that game back around Christmas - If they want to blame anything for their losses, blame the guy who recruited this team because they are all there and they are all healthy.
....and yet Barry Hinson, who really has lost much of his team to injuries and isn't griping every day about it, has his team in 2nd place - go figure....

The Will Egolf situation was in December of 2011, and the Theron Wilson/TCS incident, which only involved a speeding ticket and zero tolerance citations, was in January, 2008. It was not a DUI.
Egolf was suspended for 4 games, which is way more than all the ISU players who have been guilty of alcohol-related offenses, and even felonies!
Wilson and TCS were also punished, and then President Glasser intervened, and suspended them again. How many times has any ISU player with far more serious offenses been disciplined anywhere near as severely as these cases?

ISU fans just keep proving our point here. First, the 2 cases you cite are from more than 6 years ago (Egolf), and more than 10 years ago (Wilson/TCS). The Big Al's incident was 2015, but the only one arrested (Warren Jones) was dismissed from Bradley. Again, the only time any ISU players get dismissed is only after an extended length of time, and only after they plead guilty of felonies.
ISU has had an infinitely more lawbreakers, thugs, and criminals than Bradley, and Bradley has always taken disciplinary issues more seriously than ISU.
