  • ISU - Milik Yarbrough - knee injury

one of the players who was in the discussion for MVC Player of the Year, Milik Yarbrough - went down today with a knee injury.

I just watched it - it occurs with 17:22 left in the 2nd half - http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3245331

none of the camera angles shows much but it appears he lands awkwardly on his left leg and his left knee kind of bends sideways.
He is obviously in severe pain for quite a while but tries to resume and can't. He then goes to the lockerroom but returns and is allowed back into the game with about 12:30 left, even tho by then ISU is well on the way to being 25 points behind.
He can't go and leaves again at 11:46 but ya gotta wonder why they chanced putting him in again when the injury looked pretty troubling to that knee.
    I wouldn't be surprised if he's got a lot of swelling & soreness tomorrow - we'll see....

The Pantagraph has a column by Randy Kindred in which Dan Muller explains their problems away as "immaturity", and that the players simply need to "grow up"-

    A couple quotes-
"Muller said Saturday some players were late to the team bus, a transgression he said “continues to show our immaturity.”

Keyshawn Evans said, “We definitely have to fix some things from it. We have to grow up, mature a little bit. But we’ll be OK.”

What do I know, I am not a coach, but when you have 22-year old 4th year guys like your team's best player (Yarbrough) who are repeatedly breaking team rules among "some players...late to the team bus", it seems like a lot bigger of a problem than simply needing to "grow up" and "mature a little bit".
Note that Yarbrough was suspended for a game earlier this season for a "violation of team rules", and was disciplined by being benched in a couple other games. And don't forget, he was arrested last season for theft. He has already amassed 8 separate arrest/citation entries into the McLean County criminal database, and he is only in the middle of his first year playing at ISU!
What Dan Muller prefers to dress up as "immaturity", most intelligent people would call something much worse.

Is there some reason the Bloomington Pantygraph glosses over all his legal issues?
The PJS would be mentioning them with every article they write if it was a Bradley player.
And why is he even still on the team with so many arrests and violations of rules?
      How embarrassing.
No wonder all the thugs and criminals want to play for Dan Muller. ??\_(ツ)_/??

funny, he gets disciplined for missing the bus - and earlier by getting suspended for a meaningless whupping against DII Quincy....
but players who commit felonies, robberies, have DUIs and drug arrests and skip court dates - those guys never seem to miss a minute of playing time...

            per report in Pantagraph..
"Yarbrough questionable: When Milik Yarbrough drove the baseline and went up
for a possible dunk against Indiana State's 275-pound Brandon Murphy on
Saturday, the Redbird junior forward came out on the wrong end of the collision
            during the Sycamores' 84-54 rout.

Yarbrough landed awkwardly on his knee, but that wasn't the worst of it. He
also injured his toe and had an X-ray or MRI on it Monday morning, said ISU
            coach Dan Muller.

Results weren't released, but Muller said Yarbrough is questionable for
            Wednesday's 7 p.m. game at UNI."
