One MVC game Monday nite, Jan. 16

interesting game - Drake at Northern Iowa
The 1st place team vs. the last place team...so on paper you'd think this ought to be a blowout easy win for Drake...

But I kinda think UNI has a pretty good chance to win this one...

It??™s Tuesday lol but I do think it??™s going to be a good game. UNI 65 DU 63.

Watching the first part of this Drake-UNI game. Drake is playing well, and UNI playing poorly and turning the ball over. Drake leads 18-9.

The most noticeable thing is how few people are attending the game. The UNI arena is more than 1/2 empty. Maybe the weather has something to do with it, but I have been to a number of Bradley games at UNI in blizzard weather far worse than what we have now, and the arena has been nearly full. So it is surprising to see so few people there for a game against their biggest rival, and the 1st place team.

UNI scored the final 13 points of the first half to close to within 29-26 at halftime.

UNI has come alive and playing very well in the 2nd half,
Bennett Koch has come alive and has 16 pts
..and Niko Medved kinda hurt his team with a technical..

UNI is up 10 with under 4 min to go...
if this holds up then Bradley will be just 1 game out of first place!

Koch had 19, Pickford 16
Timmer had 17

UNI surged back and took the lead early in the 2nd half. Drake's shooters went cold, Pickford and Koch got hot and UNI pulled away to beat Drake 68-54.
