The Player of the Week is 6'3" sophomore guard Dru Smith of Evansville.
The Newcomer of the Week is 6'9" freshman center Cameron Krutwig of Loyola.

The Player of the Week is 6'3" sophomore guard Dru Smith of Evansville....

Some really tough news for Evansville. Sophomore guard Dru Smith, who was named the Player of the Week for last week, and who was playing extremely well this year leading the MVC in assists (5.5 apg), 2nd in the MVC in shooting percentage (64.1%), 2nd in 3-point percentage (57.1%), and leading Evansville in scoring (12.4 ppg) in the absence of injured Ryan Taylor, has been diagnosed with a stress fracture and will be sidelined for about 4 weeks.
Just a couple weeks ago, Evansville's best player, Ryan Taylor, who was averaging 21.3 ppg, was found to have a broken bone in his foot in their game on Nov. 21, and was said to be likely to miss 6 weeks.

...Dru Smith...diagnosed with a stress fracture ....

stress fractures can be tricky...
ISU's Daouda N'Diaye was said to be out six weeks with a stress fracture on Oct. 31, and now it's over six weeks and he's not played yet...

and ISU's Elijah Clarance was said to be out 6 wks on Sept.27, but now it's already been more than 11 weeks and he's still out.
..and apparently Muller said yesterday that he's not even sure either of them will be ready this week..

Sometimes they just take time - and rushing players back - as they learned with Clarance, actually backfired.



Also, in case it wasn't noted...
Loyola's #2 scorer, point guard and top assist guy Clayton Custer will be out 3-5 weeks with an ankle injury
He's already played 10 games, borderline should he later want to request a medical redshirt..
