  • Did Jamar Smith Get Demoted?

I watched the Illinois game last night and barely saw Jamar Smtih get off the bench.
A couple weeks ago they were playing him 30 minutes on an injured ankle, so what's up?

Jamar's production has been off and even with an injured Chester Frazxier, it seems the extra playing time is going to Brock and Meacham and not to Jamar.
Some of the Illinois posters are even blaming their poor record on Jamar.
There is actually a lot of discussion about it on the Illinois board.

But you have to remember, they beat Minnesota, and a lot of HS teams might be able to do that, so I wouldn't exactly shuffle the starting lineup based on the game last night.

Here is a quote from about the playing time:
"Frazier, who could not practice this week due to his groin strain, played just eight minutes.
Jamar Smith played just 12 minutes as Weber said he handed out playing time to those who were playing well enough to earn it. Both players were scoreless."

Here's a funny post whining about all the bad guards they DO have and lamenting the fact that they don't have:
"We need an elite PG, Dentmon, Collins, Beverley, Hannah, or Rose"

Could someone please give Jamar a call, and let him know he'd be playing 30 mpg at Bradley!
I'll make the call if you can get me his cel phone #.

        Interesting thought.
I think Jamar Smith is still having trouble with those ankles that Bruce Weber sacrificed just to win the Bradley game!
Jamar is playing less over the stretch of the last couple weeks than any time since he arrived in Champbana.
With walkons (Meacham), walking wounded (Frazier), and 30% shooters (Brock, McBride) all playing ahead of Jamar now, and McCamey/Watkins coming in next year and likely to have the skills to play right away,
then maybe it is time for Jamar to look at the grand scheme of things.
I hope Chuck Buescher has a little influence over there at Richwoods.

Doesn't play good enough defense.. I think he is still one dimensional.. and who would he take minutes from? He darn sure wouldn't get 30 mins a game with BU

Can he grow 7 or 8 inches and then come here?

He seems to be a player that has emotional issues; when things are going well he seems to be way too high and when things are going bad he is way too low.He celebrates out on the court after a made 3 pointer way too much; the way he is playing now he would not be getting more time at Bradley .

Jamar Smith is 1-of-19 from 3-point range in the last 4 games

He shot a couple of air balls, I am not sure if he made any 3 pointers today as the shots he took when I was watching were not even close; if he is injured he needs to rest as he cannot help the team playing this way.
