I thought I would start a new thread about this. I agree it should keep POB on the NBA roster, and get him more playing time.
The Warrior's record was 19-20, and they were in 9th place in the Western Conference, just 1 game out of 8th place. That's why this trade seems so unusual. Why would they shake up their team so radically when they were close to making the playoffs?
Troy Murphy was getting a lot of time in the center position, even though he never played center before this season. I had read where he wasn't happy in this new role, and his scoring numbers were way down (though he has been injured). Ike Diogu was getting just 13 minutes a game as an undersized center, but that was more than the other center prospects they had. The Warriors were heavy with wing-type players, but this trade doesn't change that.
But the Warriors get 2 of Indiana's top 3 scorers, and 3 of their top 6, while of the players Indiana gets, only Dunleavy (the Warrior's 6th highest scorer) averages double figures.
It seems likely that Patrick should get into the lineup more with this trade, but with Don Nelson, you never know.
