The Missouri State game starts at 12:30pm and their opponent Georgia Southern who are 3-0 with an average margin of victory of 31 points

BTW - anyone see the halftime score of the Iowa game??

    Louisiana Lafayette 37 - Iowa 17!!
Iowa's entire starting five has combined for only THREE MADE BASKETS in the 1st half!
Northwestern got clobbered by an unranked team yesterday by 36..
Big Ten power rating might take some hits..

Georgia Southern controlled much of the 2nd half, but Missouri State has battled back and now has the ball with 10 seconds, down 73-70

Does anybody else have doubts about either Missouri State or Northern Iowa being frontrunners for the Valley regular season title? I don't see either team as being that dominant.

It's confusing YA- as just about every team has alternately looked good then not so good - altho Georgia Southern appears to be a very good team that shoots the three very well and hasn't got a lot of weak spots

Thanks Tornado. Admittedly I know very little about the Georgia Southern program.

Georgia Southern is a very good team, and it will be tough for Bradley to beat them in Peoria this coming Saturday. They are easily the best team we play at home in the non-conference schedule. They finished tied for 3rd in the Sun Belt Conference last year, and return most of their talent from last year's team. They were picked 4th in this year's Sun Belt preseason poll, but I think they could win the league. They are now 4-0 with a win at Wake Forest, and a win over Missouri State, who was picked to win the MVC.

And I have said it a few times here that I am surprised to see so many people picking UNI in the top couple teams in preseason MVC rankings. They had a losing record last year, and lost one of the top players in the league in Jeremy Morgan. I just don't see enough improvement to vault to the top of the league yet. Though they have one of the better big men in the MVC in Bennett Koch, they are very not deep inside. Klint Carlson is their only other forward that plays more than 10 minutes per game or averages more than 2 ppg.
And they lack a true point guard (after 4 games, their power forward Klint Carlson leads the team in assists with 11) and they have inconsistent outside shooting (UNI ranks 9th out of 10 MVC teams in 3-point percentage).
They might still be contenders, but I don't think they have the talent they have had most of the past decade.

                      uh oh- upset brewing?
Wichita trails Cal 51-38 in the 2nd half and Landry Shamet is about the only guy keeping it from being a 20-pt margin..
he's 5-5, including 4-4 from 3-pt and has scored 15 pts - as the rest of the team is just 7-25
                      Game is on ESPN2

Shockers came back to win but wow, is Cal poorly coached...
they had an 18 pt lead then kept making the exact same bad mistake over and over...inbounding then dribbling into the corner 94 feet from their basket - only to get trapped again and again and turn it over.
Even biddy ball players know NOT to dribble against a trapping and double-teaming press - you beat the press with smart, sharp passes before you get trapped, but Cal never tried that..
Wichita is way too good to give up 24 offensive rebounds to then turn the ball over and give it back to them 19 more times.
