Just curious....Did BU actively recruit Taylor Bruninga? He scored 14 today in his freshman debut against FGCU. He's going to be a good college player.

Bradley did recruit him, but they didn't have any seniors last year, and the only scholarships they knew were going to be opening were Merritt and Foster who were planning on leaving. So those 2 scholarships were filled when Childs & Stipanovich signed early. One other scholarship (Suggs) did open very late, after the season ended. But by that time Bradley wasn't in the running for TB any more.
He was at a Bradley game or two.
There weren't many schools offering him, and the few that did wanted him to redshirt.

Apparently not hard enough. Bruninga will be another bad recruiting miss for BU. Just another 6' 9" kid with a high bball IQ and sweet shooting stroke, nothing to see here. Not as egregious as Alec Peters (I'll never understand that one--was easy to see his Junior year how good he was) but might end up being close.

Interesting to note that ISU currently has four "small school" central IL. players on their roster: Bruninga (IB), Tinsley (Ridgeview), Chastain (Leroy), and Litwiller (Oly). Very unusual.

our coach just landed two freshmen who are not only already making a difference but at least one of them could well be starting pretty soon and the other hit two 3-pointers in just 8 minutes yesterday...
beyond that - we didn't even have a scholarship open up until March - so I am not ready yet to agonize over TB the same way we dropped the ball on Alec

Chastain was great in his last high school game in the state championship. Kind of lost track of him after that. What is his projected role for ISU? The 3 position?

On the subject of Bruninga, I was actually out at Illini Bluffs last year and saw Porter Moser and an assistant there to talk to hm. He had at least seven offers including one from Northern Iowa. Fourteen points in his college debut, against a good team, is impressive.

Yes, but I have heard that several of his D1 offers involved a redshirt year, which he did not want to do. Have you heard differently?
UNI did not have an open scholarship last April, and their offer was for TB to walk on his first year, then earn a scholarship (they do that with a lot of their recruits), but Ben Jacobson really liked him.
