As I have posted previously, I cannot understand why so many people are picking UNI to finish in the top 2 or 3 in the MVC, and some like Todd Golden, beat writer for Indiana State, picked them #1....especially when their only "logic" is that they can't see Ben Jacobson having 2 bad years in a row. Yes he can. UNI does not have nearly the talent they have had in past years. They will struggle to score, and they lack an inside game other than Bennett Koch, who cannot carry the team by himself.

They also may have the toughest schedule of any MVC team with games against North Carolina, UNLV, Texas-Arlington, Iowa State, and Xavier, plus games in the Battle for Atlantis in the Bahamas against SMU, Arizona or N.C. State, and another game against either Purdue, Tennessee, Villanova, or Western Kentucky. That is a brutal pre-conference schedule. They could easily have 7 or 8 losses before the conference games start.
I think Bradley can finish higher than UNI for the first time in many years.

a couple of obvious huge concerns for UNI -

-their only double digit scorer last night vs. Wisconsin was Juwan McCloud who had 10 pts on 5-10 shooting -- BUT.....
but he is their point guard and logged ZERO assists and 4 turnovers - so a 10 point night by your point guard who doesn't even get an assist and turns the ball over 4 times is a really bad night! Overall Team A/T was 6/16.

-their starting big men Carlson & Koch were expected to do well since this is not the most powerful frontcourt Wisconsin's ever had....
and yet Carlson & Koch were a combined 2-8 with 6 pts & only 6 rebs

-another area of huge concern is Spencer Haldeman. He was a phenom last year - starting at SG as a redshirt freshman and almost 50% of his 3's for the first half of the season... then his performance dropped and he played a bench role the latter part.
Last night he didn't hit a shot and went 0-4 in 15+ minutes, and the team went just 4-18, with their big men getting two of those!

-Wisconsin didn't really even play that good of a game - they only scored 69 points total and their starters only got 29 points total and no starter had double digits!! And they only had 18 points all night in the paint- very unusual for Wisconsin let alone any Big Ten team! This is a game UNI would have had a chance at winning but they were able to only put 38 on the scoreboard.

As noted, a big area of concern for UNI will be their 3-point shooting. That has always been a strong point for Ben Jacobson teams in the past. They were just 4-18 as a team last night, and four players they expect to be their best 3-point shooters were scoreless from three- Juwan McCloud (0-2), Spencer Haldeman (0-1), and Tanner Lohaus (0-2), and Luke McDonnell (0-1). McCloud shot only 19% from three last season.

The link at the top of the first post shows the box score and has Wisconsin-Stout losing to UW but the UW site does indeed have UNI losing and UW-S is scheduled for November 5. Don't know who made such a mistake.

Was this a hurricane relief exhibition game like the BU-Lewis game was?
My first BU hoops game was on 12/30/1963. My dad took me to watch the Braves defeat Arizona 67-59. He helped me get Coach Orsborn's autograph before the game.

odd, someone who runs the sidearmstats site must reprogramming for Wisconsin's next game because that said Northern Iowa when I first saw that link
but all the stats are the correct stats for the UNI game

That is the way the sidearmstats.com Live Stats site works. It uses the exact same URL (web address) for the stats to every game, so the team's staff erases the stats from the last game and resets it for the next game. Sometimes they might leave the stats posted for a couple days, but some teams erase them quickly as soon as the box score is available elsewhere.
