Boo, Slack and Osiris. JL was looking at all three. Of those 3 which would you have wanted. I say only OE. Don't think Boo would have got much PT and Slack/Salley is a wash.

If we get Boo we don't have a scholie for Warren correct? I think it would have worked that way for OE also....OE = no AW? While it appears OE MIGHT be a bit ahead of AW I think AW will be a tremendous player for BU.

OE seems to be getting the benefit of more PT and a chance to show more of what he can do. Due to BU's depth AW hasn't got as many minutes but when he does play he's looked good.

I think any Valley team would want O. He looks like he could be a difference maker down the road.

Here is my take, but I am sure one of the ISU fans will have something to say, but the stats
I offer come right from the ISU official site.......so you cannot deny the stats....you decide...
      ****************

I agree that Boo Richardson would cut into the playing time of Ruffin, Franklin, and Tauai,
and simply wouldn't have been needed. He is very inconsistent and has had some really horrible,
      turnover-prone games.
      ****************

Anthony Slack had some good games early, and looked like a lock for the All Newcomer team,
until suddenly he started playing in the conference and his production stalled. Now he doesn't even start
and has become a bench player.
Look at Slack's production in ALL GAMES vs. just CONFERENCE GAMES:

      NON-Conference Gms....25.5mpg, 11.5ppg, 7.0rpg, 1.6bpg, 2.0spg, 63%FG, 63%FT
      Conference Games only..20.3mpg, 7.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 0.3bpg, 0.7spg, 58%FG, 56%FT

BY CONTRAST..here are Matt Salley's stats for Conference games:
      Salley in MVC games......24.3mpg, 8.7ppg, 4.6rpg, 0.9bpg, 0.4spg, 47%FG, 50%FG
I think Matt Salley is every bit as good and as valuable as Slack would have been.
      ****************

Lastly, Osiris Eldridge because of his size might even be playing behind Andrew Warren.
Even though he had shown he can score some, he doing so by launching a lot of shots.
His 3-pt shooting pct. is 35.1% and is essentially the same in league play as overall, so his really poor start
(only made one of his first 18 3-pt shots) didn't seem to be that much of an aberration.
Eldridge's overall shooting accuracy is 37.9% and FT's are 69%.
Here is a really telling stat..........
Since MVC play started seven games ago, NO PLAYER on ISU has shot as many FG attempts as Osiris Eldridge!
For a guy who is 6th overall in scoring on a very poor-scoring team, the guy is presently
LEADING the team in FG ATTEMPTS!!

So the entire reason he is scoring better is NOT better shots, better shot selection, or better shooting accuracy,
it is simply because of taking a whole lot more shots
      .
(Shot attempts per game in non-conference games was 63 shots in 11 games -5.6shots per game.
IN CONFERENCE PLAY, he is launching 77 shots in 7 games -- 11.0 shots per game!! --
MORE than twice as many shots of late, but not twice the scoring.)

I really don't know if we need a shoot first guard whose defense is not yet proven.
And Eldridge has a 0.7 assist to turnover ratio.
He will be a fine player in due time, but ISU is asking way too much of him right now, and
he is doing the best he can, but he isn't helping them win any games.

Eldridge will have a good career.
He has always been a scorer, and both Les and Moser knew that when they were recruiting the kid.
If he plays he is going to shoot the rock.
A more challenging question is whether Porter Moser will be around to coach Eldridge for four years.

That is one of the hot topics on the Redbird message board
In one poll, only about 1/2 even want him to return next year.

"This is the worst coached team at ISU i've every seen"

"This Coaching staff is just not very good."

          Porter Moser at ISU 42-60.
Jim Les's record by the time he lost 60 games, 62-60 with one Swet Sixteen appearance.

Richardson's play has been inconsistent, but he is a JC transfer, and very few JC players are able to make the transition to D1 ball without a few bumps in the road.

I think Slack has been playing injured.....bad back? IMO, that would affect his ability to perform up to his capabilities.

OE came into the MVC with the reputation of being a shooter/scorer, and I've seen/heard nothing so far that would change that.

I think all three players will improve with time. The question is.....how much time does Porter have left to "right the ship"?

Eldridge leads ISU in rebounds in conference games averaging 5.9 boards per game. (for comparison purposes, in conference games, BU's leading rebounder is ZA at 6.1 boards per game.)

He also leads ISU in offensive rebounds in conference games with 20. (for comparison purposes, in conference games, BU leading offensive rebounder is MS with 20.)

Not to bad to have the 6'3 Eldridge listed with 6'11 Andrews and 6'7 Salley when it comes to rebounding.

I can't wait til the first year shooting guard's defense improves.

Wow - has Zach had a growing spurt?

He's only 6'8" cpac (and Salley is 6'7").

I'm fairly certain mel made his point regardless of Andrews height. Maybe mel was thinking of Ben Coupet?
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Rebounding is a GLARING weakness for this years Braves' team. We're consistently getting beat on the boards night in and night out. Comparing "King O's" () stats to this isn't saying much.

If Zach Andrews was 6'11", BU would be ranked and possibly undefeated. He's 6'8" tops.

My point wasn't to rip ISU. I was doing moreso for the fact I was upset at one time for losing out to ISU on 3 guys that NOW only bothers me with 1 OE.

I don't think Slack and Boo would have helped much if you look at who we would have not got instead.

My bad to ZA on giving him 6'11, when in reality he is only 6'8.

Eldridge is 6'3 and rebounding as well as the 6'7 MS and the 6'8 ZA, that's all I was trying to say, to Tornado who said Eldridge's defense wasn't proven yet.

mel, rebounding stats can be deceptive, especially when shooting pct. are low and lots of shots are clanging long with nobody to go get them but the quicker, bigger guards.

BTW..let's see if stats show ISU is a better team with Osiris playing more and rebounding more...

Eldridge is not leading the team in rebounds overall, only leading in conference games (nine of them) but when you factor in the 11 non-league games his figures fall to 3rd best on the team...but note that since the conference season started, Osiris IS playing a awfully lot more minutes, averaging 29 miniutes per game, which is THE MOST TIME ON COURT of any player over 6'1".
Therefore, it only stands to reason he's gonna get more rebounds.
The real question is whether it's helping his team win games.

                              ISU's record in 11 non-conference games with Osiris playing 16.5mpg and getting 2.5rpg.= 8-3, 5-0 at home

Compare to ISU's record in conference games with OE playing 29mpg, and grabbing 5.9rpg.= 3-6, 3-3 at home

I would say the evidence that it's helping his team is simply not there.
