I posted about the Athlon preseason issue -
now, the Lindy's issue is out...I'll save you some time if you just want to know what it says about the MVC
I used to buy these issues every year but now I just look at Barnes & Noble and pass on buying them since they are 80-90% devoted to just the top the schools in the power conferences - so you have 10% of the teams, coaches & players getting 80-90% of their coverage.
They have only 2 pages of info on the Missouri Valley but that's generous considering they don't cover any mid-major conference any more than that..
The guy who writes the MVC section is Lindsey Willhite, who is a retired sports writer for the Chicago Daily Herald - but he retired in 2011 and from what I can find on him, he has never covered the Valley and had little to do with Loyola or college basketball at all.
Currently he works (since 2011) as the PR Director for the minor league hockey team, the Chicago Wolves...while, I guess moonlighting by writing a few sections in mags like this.
So FWIW- here's what he says about the Valley...
1- Missouri State
2- Loyola
3- Illinois State
4- Valparaiso
5- Northern Iowa
6- SIU
7- BRADLEY
8- Drake
9- Evansville
10- Indiana State
1st Team - Ryan Taylor, Reed Timmer, Tevonn Walker (Valpo), Aundre Jackson, Alize Johnson (POY)
2nd Team - Clayton Custer, Brenton Scott, Bennett Koch, Donte Ingram, Milik Yarbrough (Newcomer of the Year)
They do list a few other notables and Darrell Brown, Jr. is named the Best Playmaker
But he also lists "Eliza Childs" as one of Bradley's new players as well as few other notable errors.
