so who on their current roster isn't gonna be using a scholarship next year?
does Gassman go back to walk-on?...is Copeland qualified & eligible? ...is Romine or Hein a goner or Yarbrough going pro?
They do not lose a single player to graduation, so there shouldn't be any available scholarships for 2018. So, yes to some of those options, and maybe others. Gassman will lose his scholarship. Rumors that Hein, Romine, and/or Clarance may be leaving. And the aforementioned possibility of Yarbrough.
Unless Muller has gotten a waiver from the NCAA to go to 15 scholarships.
Jefferson??™s stats are great but LakeLand is D2 JUCO competition same as ICC. We??™ll have to see if there is comparable production in a Valley schedule. The loss of Romine and Hein, if that were to occur, can only improve the team. I would have to assume the additional possibility of Clarance leaving the program.
his other offers were Cal-State Northridge, Newberry, Kentucky Wesleyan, Portland State, Cal Poly, Albany, CSUN
why do you mention Clarance as possibly leaving?
..for true freshman who missed almost the first half of the season, he ended up playing a fair amount... was he unhappy with his playing time?

Interesting story in the Pantagraph that he heard from 28 schools once he received his release. No idea who those schools were other than by looking at some of the assistant coaches who immediately followed him on Twitter once he was "on the market" since he had originally signed his LOI in the fall. Hard to tell what their interest level was, but is a pretty big number.
This is the kind of player I wish my Aces would fall into, but I guess having his former teammate on ISU gave them a bit of a leg up.
Cheering with pep and vim for the white and purple!
it is interesting how there's such a frenzy each spring as schools find themselves with unfilled scholarships..
Agreed. For some kids it is better to wait, but I'm sure it's a very fine line. Kids like JJ who take an offer in the fall sometimes benefit from higher offers in the spring, but the lure of an assured scholarship in the fall has to be very hard to pass up.
From what I've read, and admit did not see it myself, many of the schools that jumped on him were higher level mid-majors comparable to the schools in the Valley. I know that Tinsley was a big part of him picking ISU as I'm sure hearing from a former teammate that you trust really helps.

Dave Leitao was last seen recruiting at a kindergarten looking for 2030 talent.
Not much of a surprise when you get a commitment from a kid who has not even started his freshman year. 2022 recruit Amari Bailey, who had given DePaul head coach Dave Leitao a verbal commitment back in August now has his mother tweet out that he is not longer committed to DePaul.

2019 Bradley - Aristide Boya(may reclassify as 2018- his team just finished in the Final Four at the National Prep Championships playing against all post-grad teams!) (7 open scholarships)
ISU - had a commitment from Chris Payton but he reneged
UNI - James Betz(Betz' co-op team, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, got knocked out of their Regional and ends their season 20-5)
He has several other offers, but our coaches saw the UNI offer as the one that might be the toughest competition to overcome. Now with signing a juco big man, Chatman has to see his chances of playing right at UNI may have decreased. UNI may still need another big man since they lose Koch, Carlson, and Friedman, their top 3 bigs from last year, but IMO this helps Bradley's recruiting of Chatman. He already visited UNI and didn't commit. He will be visiting Bradley some time this month.

UNI is probably looking to sign a couple big men to replace Koch and Carlson
btw- shameless NCAA violations by Indiana State fans who are directly contacting Evansville players and luring them to transfer to InSU
no new commits, but updating the number of open scholarships - especially Evansville now that they have a boatload of open ones
Strange how so many players have asked out at Evansville even before discussions about who will replace Marty - the players there must have felt pretty disrespected.
Don't hear a thing about mass defections at Missouri State - they apparently will wait to see who is the new coach.
And here's something interesting Re: Drake's commit Larry Wise (not yet signed). His team from Texas was good enough to rise to being ranked #7 in the entire nation - but....
they got shocked and knocked out of their own Regional during the Texas State Playoffs
Drake's gotta hope he didn't blow up too much and start getting calls...
Same for their other UNSIGNED guy Matt Gray, who is said to be averaging 35 ppg
2019 Bradley - Aristide Boya(may reclassify as 2018- his team just finished in the Final Four at the National Prep Championships playing against all post-grad teams! They were ranked inside the Top 7-8 teams nationally all season) (7 open scholarships)
Evansville - (13 open scholarships and no commits at all)
ISU - had a commitment from Chris Payton but he reneged (4 open scholarships)
UNI - James Betz(Betz' co-op team, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, got knocked out of their Regional and ends their season 20-5) (2 open scholarships)
