  • Alex Foster is transferring to...

    Albany....

They re coming off a nice 21 win season with a post-season appearance (CIT) - and have six consecutive post-season appearances, including 3 NCAA appearances since 2013! (and five NCAA appearances since 2006)

Abany has one other Chicago player that Alex May know..
    Chicago Mt. Carmel's David Nichols
..and they are really kinda short on big men with experience - so Alex maybe feels he can get playing time right away.
ALL THREE of the incoming freshmen they have this fall are from Australia!

Albany was 21-14 overall, and 10-6 and tied for 3rd in the American East Conference. And they should be even better next season as they return their top 5 scorers, plus they will get back one of their top big men who missed all but their first 5 games last season with injuries.
Albany will actually have a very strong frontcourt with 4 returning power forwards next year, plus they have another redshirt power forward who will be eligible next year, and they have 3 new incoming big men/power forward recruits signed (one juco and two freshman) who look pretty good. That is a total of 8 scholarship big men on their roster, in addition to Alex Foster. Alex may have some trouble finding playing time there next year.

      well time will tell but...
THEY are short on big men...

      Alex is 6-8

They have a GRAND TOTAL of ZERO guys returning who are 6-8 or taller..

They have a couple 6-6 guys and a couple 6-7 guys but they are all very inexperienced - maybe at best ONE year out of juco
and two of them just missed an entire year each due to medical problems

They have ONLY ONE player returning who is over 6-6 and played even 1 minute per game last year in more than 5 games!!!
their other FIVE 6-6 guys from last year COMBINED to bring back only about 8-9 rebounds per game!!!!

I think they will have a HUGE HOLE in their lineup and they DO NOT HAVE A TRUE POST whatsoever
they have a bunch of tweeners trying to play center and so with FOUR YEARS of college behind him I believe Alex thinks he can step in and get playing time..

I don't think he's going there for the superb academics or the fine weather

Bradley was a whole lot more "short on big men", but Alex still couldn't get off the bench except after games were 20-30 point blowouts. I wish him good luck, but it looks like he could be competing with as many as 8 other big men at Albany.

obviously Albany has some kind of need that even while they have NO OPEN SCHOLARSHIP, they pursue a 2 ppg post player

But just looking objectively at the numbers, Albany has 4 power forwards returning who averaged significantly more playing time and points per game last season than Foster did, plus 4 more kids who play the power forward position who are either coming off redshirts or are new recruits that all play the same position as Foster.
It just seems like a crowded frontcourt for a 1-year transfer who didn't see much playing time for a Bradley team that had a real need for frontcourt players.

Good for Alex....I only saw one workout early in the season during his transfer year and thought he looked fairly decent......I'm glad he landed somewhere....
