  • Interesting comments from an Ohio State recruit

4-star 2018 recruit Darius Bazley had previously committed to Ohio State, but after he made a visit to campus this week, he de-committed and announced he was re-opening his recruitment. But what is making news is the few comments he made about Ohio State on the way out the door.
He claimed the reason he was decommitting is because he is not real impressed with the other players Ohio State head coach Thad Matta is recruiting, and he doesn't think they will be good enough in 2 years when he gets there to give him enough exposure to get him to the NBA.

Here are a few of Darius Bazley's comments about decommitting. Note that he would not even arrive at Ohio State until the fall of 2018:

"It??™s nothing against the school or anything, but my one ultimate goal is to get to the NBA and I just didn??™t feel as confident as I did when I first committed that Ohio State was one of those schools that could get me there. At the end of the day I??™ve got to perform no matter where I go, but I think there??™s other schools out there that could put me on a bigger stage and in a better position to show those NBA scouts when I get to college what I can do.???

???Ohio State, they didn??™t make the NCAA Tournament this year,???
???They didn??™t even make the NIT, which is unfortunate, but I looked into the recruits they have coming into next year, they didn??™t look too good for the future. So I felt like when my class came in, yeah, we would??™ve been OK, but good enough to make the tournament? I don??™t know. I just felt as if I was to de-commit, actually take my time, figure everything out it would just be a lot better.???
