According to the ISU student newspaper, after previously giving assurances he was going to return for his final year of eligibility next season, MiKyle McIntosh has changed his mind, left campus, and does not plan on returning or playing next season. There are rumors he will transfer or look at pro opportunities. This will be a huge blow to ISU's chances next year. He would have been one of the favorites for Preseason Player of the Year next season.

Muller stated 3 weeks ago that McIntosh "could have a special year next year if he's with us, and hopefully he is."
I think he knew back then but wasn't going to comment..
wonder if he's getting calls from Brad Underwood at Illinois or maybe aiming higher
..McIntosh has gotta be bummed expecting to go to the NCAA then getting snubbed - so he will likely choose a destination that he kinda knows he'll get to the NCAA
..and surely he saw how Reggie Lynch benefitted from his transfer to Minnesota, so he may head there..
...but when it really mattered in the post-season, he was just 7-21 and they bombed out in the NIT
In the end - this is what midmajor fans like us have been predicting for years...
that the midmajors will simply be the farm system for the big boys....they will come along each spring and pick the players they want..

As recently as March 20, McIntosh told ISU beat writer Jim Benson-
MiKyle McIntosh told me Monday he would return to @Redbird_MBB next season and "not at all' thinking about being a graduate transfer.

I don't see him getting drafted this year. I do think ISU will be a slightly better than a mediocre team next year and may not make the NCAA tournament again, so maybe transferring make sense for him if he is able to graduate. At least if he transfers to a solid NCAA team like Wichita State, Minnesota, Louisville, Gonzaga, Cincinnati, etc, he would get a lot more exposure and might become a potential NBA draft pick in 2018.

It seems that people have forgotten that not long ago, Jim Les did get talent like that. An amazing 16 of Les-recruited players were honored on All-MVC teams or were DPOY*. He had multiple Defensive Players of the Year (POB & DSE). And that was in the era when the MVC was at it's strongest and had overall superior talent than we have seen the last few years. Jim Les-recruited players made the All-MVC teams for 11 straight seasons- 2004-2014, even though he was only coach here for 9 years (Geno Ford inherited multiple All-MVC JL players- Taylor Brown was All-MVC in 2012 and Walt Lemon was All MVC in 2013 & 2014, and DSE was the 2013 DPOY- so much for the phony "empty cupboard" hoax that the PJS tried pushing along with all their other pro-Geno lies).
So Bradley used to get great talent. On the othet hand, not one single Bradley player recruited in the last 6 years since Les was fired has made All-MVC, despite the overall weakening and the diluted talent in the league.
One of the excuses we heard when Jim Les was fired, was supposedly in part because he did not make it back to the NCAA Tournament for the 5 years after 2006 (despite the fact the bigger problem was being meddled with and sabotaged by admins). And so, despite 5 winning seasons in a row, and great talent year after year, and despite warnings from people who could see this was going to send Bradley into years of rebuilding cycles, Les was fired by the ignorant and self-serving admins. The last 6 years have been a nightmare because of the handful who hated Jim Les and wanted him gone at any cost.
ISU has not made the NCAA Tournament since 1998, the longest period of any MVC school (except newcomer Loyola). So in the end, the talent that Muller brought in, did not do him much good, and now without their 3 All MVC guys, Paris Lee, Deontae Hawkins, and MiKyle McIntosh, they will become another average team competing in a mediocre MVC next season.

that's when Dr. Glasser set out to fire Ken Kavanagh and Jim Les
She succeeded with KK in 2009 but was unable to get the Board OK to run off Les until 2011.

I would certainly take the talent at ISU over the talent we have. And in addition, I'm certainly not going to cast stones at ISU or their coaching staff until we pass them in the standings. They may not have been to the NCAA tournament in a while, but they're a lot closer than we are. We can't get out of the play in game of the MVC tournament. As I said, until we surpass ISU, I'll reserve judgement on their coaching staff, won/loss record or success of program. Hopefully that changes sooner than later.
