Yes, but for many years there were ISU and SIU fans here and on other message boards claiming that their athletic departments were not funded by taxpayer's money, and instead were self-sufficient (funded by revenues generated plus donations) or funded by student fees (of course at state schools, tuition and fees are heavily subsidized by taxpayers anyway). It was never true, and we love skewering those false claims any time we can.

but if private schools can balance the budget and thrive without dipping into the taxpayers' pocket, then why can't the government run Universities...?
I think in many cases it IS because of corruption, misspending, greed and people lining their pockets
It sure is at one of our state schools...
