DSE? (Again a les recruit). I think he'd be a good fit, but yeah, it'd be nice to have some superstar talent coming up. I like a couple of our younger guys, so maybe it won't be too much longer until we've got some All-MVC Players again.

Just to clarify, Walt Lemon was the last All MVC player for Bradley.
Although DSE was the MVC Defensive Player of the Year in 2013, he was actually never named to any of the All Conference teams in his career. He was also 1 year ahead of Walt Lemon, and left Bradley in 2013, while Walt last played and was named 2nd-team All MVC in 2014.

Today, April 1st, is the first day fans can begin voting for their favorite teams to try to get them qualified to participate in The Basketball Tournament.

However- the Bradley alumni team, Always a Brave, are not listed on their website yet, so Bradley fans will need to wait to vote until all the paperwork gets in and the Always a Brave team is officially entered.
Here are the teams registered in the Midwest Region so far. From looking at all the regions, it looks like there will be a lot more "alumni teams" this year-

Because Always a Brave won the Midwest Regional last year, They are automatically entered into the field of 64 competing teams this year, and don't need votes to get qualified.

But there is another reason for Bradley fans to still vote and support Always a Brave. One of the rules of The Basketball Tournament involves the addition of a "Ringer" that a team can add if they advance to the round of 16-

But it requires that the team accumulate 2000 fan votes by July 8. Bradley fell short of 2000 votes last year and did not qualify for the use of a ringer.

One other new twist- The Basketball Tournament will hold an event called the "Jamboree". The tournament organizers will select 16 additional teams that can bypass the voting process, and there will be no minimum vote total required. They will then play in a 16-team side tournament on June 16 & 17 in Philadelphia. The top 4 teams left after playing a single elimination bracket will be added to the tournament field.
The way they will select the 16 Jamboree participants is a bit mercenary- the first 16 teams to submit a $5000 entry fee will play in the Jamboree. Only the 4 advancing teams will get their $5000 back. The other 12 eliminated teams will go home $5000 poorer, and all teams have to pay their own travel expenses to and from Philadelphia.
Check out the rules. The rules regarding the Jamboree at in Section VI. paragraph 8.

Note they also have a strange and novel "End of Game" rule that applies to all the games in the Jamboree. The normal rules set the length of the games at 36 minutes (two 18 minute halves). But the Jamboree rules involve turning off the game clock inside the final 4 minutes, and setting a "target score". The first team to then reach the "target score" will win the game.
Here are the exact "End of Game" rules-
          f. JAMBOREE GAME RULES The same game rules as applicable to the field of 64 shall apply to the Jamboree, with the exception of the end of game, as described immediately below:
          i. JAMBOREE END OF GAME RULES After the first dead ball, timeout, or made basket following the completion of thirty-two (32) minutes of play, the game clock stops and timed play ends. At this juncture, a target score shall be set, equal to the leading team's score plus seven (7). After the target score is set, play shall resume, without a game clock, until one team matches or exceeds the target score.
          1. Example: Team A leads Team B 80-78 with 4:10 remaining in the game. Team B takes the ball and makes a three (3) point shot to take the lead at 81-80, as the clock ticks down to 3:59 remaining in the game. The game clock is now turned off. The target score is now set to 88. The first team that reaches 88 wins the game.

Wright joined.... that is great. He was a true X factor for us in 2006. Basically unguardable at times. I remember an opposing coach referring to him as "that freak." Ha

Been a long time since I last logged on here so I'm sorry if this article was already posted. This article describes how that rule change at the end of the games came about and that the TBT is going to be a test case for others to study.

Zach Lowe reports The Basketball Tournament will experiment with a new way to help teams come back without fouling. Could this rule fly in the NBA someday?

I thought the best effect it would have is to reduce all the fouling at the ends of games and not drag them out for so long. On the other hand, the drawbacks I think will happen, are that we will see fewer late comebacks and miracle endings, and the team leading will stall as much as possible since the other team will not want to foul.
