  • This Week's New Rankings - Wisconsin #1?

That's what Gary Parrish of CBSSportsline thinks.
He has Wisconsin at #1, North Carolina drops all the way to #6, but Butler stays right at #11 despite a loss to UI-C.
Still no MVC team in the entire Top 26.

Collegehoopsnet has UCLA back at #1, and Wisconsin at #3.
They SIU at #28, Missouri State at #30, UNI at #41,
and Creighton at #54, with WSU just dropped out.

Here is a little discussion and it includes a little love for Creighton about 1/2 way down.
Also, whoever thought Appalachian State was good just because their RPI was in the Top 10. Now they have lost at home to a really weak Elon (near-300-RPI), and are exposed as getting into the Top 10 RPI just by cracking the code and having a soft schedule.
    ALSO-- ONE huge surprise.
Washington, once ranked in the Top 10, picked to compete for the title in the tough Pac-10, has now lost FIVE of their first SIX conference games to go 1-5 and....
Suddenly, they also seem exposed and don't have a single Top-50 win, and have NINE wins over teams that are 175+ in RPI!
Their home win over UNI is now perhaps their best win.

Travesty that not one MVC team is in the Top 25.
Maybe it's because if they rank one they'd have to rank 3 or 4.

AP Top 25 -- 4 MVC teams getting votes, none listed any higher than 36th.

Coaches Poll -- also four MVC teams in the "Also getting votes" but none higher than 39th.

Here is the new Mid-Major Top 25.
FOUR MVC teams in the top 10, and Bradley moves up to #21.
Seven MVC teams getting votes. Drake, UE, and ISU drop out and are getting no votes.

A few notes about the poll.................

Duke at #17 in the Coaches Poll is at the lowest spot since the start of the 1996-1997 season.

UConn has dropped out of the Top 25 for the very first time since 3/11/2003.

Nevada, at #13 is the highest it has been since 1991.

#11 Air Force, is the highest they have ever been ranked in history.

Wisconsin at #3 is the highest they have been since 1991.

Virginia Tech is ranked for the first time since 1996.

Here is the USA Today Missouri Valley Conference Report...pretty thorough, and failrly accurate.
(They say the only player Porter Moser can count on is Levi Dyer! - who is averaging 8.7ppg but has started the last seven and averaged 14.4ppg in that stretch)

Where are the guys that did pre-season polls saying not just 1 MVC team in the Top 25 but 2 or EVEN 3??? Wasn't Creighton, SIU and Missouri State in most of those polls? Aren't they the top 3 in the MVC now?

I notice in the midmajor poll, they still have Appalachian State #14 even after
a horrific loss at home to #264 Elon. They also struggled giving up 91 points to Western Carolina.
This is not a good team, and teams on the midmajor list like Wichita State, Bradley, and even Indiana State would tear them apart.
