  • Drake loses a player to transfer

Billy Wampler is leaving...possibly the first of a couple changes with the hiring of a new coach...

Wampler did not get much press but was their 2nd leading scorer...
He led them in scoring in 6 games this season - 2nd only to Reed Timmer..
    he averaged 9.6 ppg, 34.3% from 3-pt, 80% on FTs, 2.5 rpg, 1 apg
Listed as a 6-6 guard, he is currently a sophomore and would have to sit out one year and then be eligible for two more elsewhere

It was reported that Wampler was the only Drake player not at the new coaches press conference. That doesn't mean that more players won't transfer.

Billy Wampler was actually the highest rated recruit Ray Giacoletti landed in his 3 1⁄2 seasons at Drake. He was a 3-star recruit who also had offers from schools like Creighton, Bucknell, Davidson, Boston U, Green Bay, Oakland, Auburn, Tulsa, Richmond, and others.

He should get other offers now.

          speaking of losing a player--

UIC was on a recruiting roll last fall when they landed and signed a big kid out of Detroit that was not well known..
Greg Eboigbodin, a native of Nigeria, has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll and play basketball at the University of Illinois at Chicago, men's head basketball coach Steve McClain announced Friday, Nov. 11.

but...as sometimes happens - the kid blew up, had a great senior season and landed on a couple Michigan All State Teams...
then you kinda know he probably started getting a few phone calls, and a couple schools much closer lose a few players to the NBA draft..
          and BINGO...
the kid now wants out of his Letter of Intent!

it is an NCAA violation to recruit a kid who has already signed but that rule never gets enforced because it benefits the likes of Bill Self or Tom Izzo...
